  • Quiet farm site surrounded by footpaths in the Dorset village of Ansty
  • Half an hour's drive from Weymouth, Poole and the Jurassic Coast
  • Farm shop on site; pub with food next door
They might not make beer at Brewery Farm, but this fab Dorset site serves up good times in grand surrounds, and there's a pub right next door for good measure… If you’re into history, there’s lots of it to be supped and savoured in the area; same goes for walks, beaches, boat rides… the whole lot of it easily accessible from a berth on this peaceful and friendly site. Facilities include a shop, selling the farm’s own produce; if you want to grill up an alfresco feast, go ahead – barbecues are permitted. The suitably ancient and rural inn over the road serves fresh locally sourced food as well, along with local ales to relax with at the end of a day of outings. Fancy exploring the area slowly? Ask the team to point you towards the network of country footpaths, through some of Dorset’s finest countryside.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Warm welcome from owner, even with two or three vans arriving at same time. Lovely quiet, open site, with great dog walking facilities just through a gate. Spotless shower rooms which included loo and sink. Separate loos available as well. Washing up facilities too. Shop on site seemed well stocked. Pub across the road, although we didn't use it. Free WiFi worked well.

Disliked: Minor dislike were the narrow lanes to get to site, but we did read about this beforehand.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your lovely comments about our site and facilities. We hope you visit us again and perhaps an excuse to visit the Pub.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly greeting from the off and happy to give us information about the local walks. Beautifully clean shower block and washing up sinks with really hot water. So peaceful and quiet and we really enjoyed the walk to the Dorchester Gap. Good dark sky - great to see the Milky Way.There's a village shop next to the site which had everything you would need and friendly staff. Pub across the road served really good food - cheesecake in our top 3 ever. Really enjoyed our stay.

Disliked: Not the site's fault but there are 2 roads to get there and one is very long and narrow and there were a lot of tractors going up and down at this time of year as you would expect. Apparently, there is an app that tells you which roads are wide enough for your vehicle.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for the lovely feedback on our site and we are delighted you enjoyed the Pub - especially the cheesecake. Unfortunately the narrow access is what makes us such a peaceful location but hopefully you visit again.

Well worth a stay.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Very welcoming on arrival and the facilities were spot on. The farm shop was fairly well stocked but a little on the pricy side. The pitches were good with lovely views. Also there was a very nice pub across the road.

Disliked: To many sheep making a noise lol.

From the manager: Thankyou for the lovely comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope you visit us again although I can't promise the sheep won't keep you awake.

Liked: The location is perfect if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle, you could not be much more remote. The farm is charming, and so so quiet. The owners are knowledgable and welcoming, always greeted with a smile and a hello. The owners have put together a little book which they offer guest for a donation of £2. This book was delightful, it contains a few walks around the local area that are truly stunning, if you’re into exploring then follow their steps and away you go, you won’t be disappointed. The facilities are in great condition, with everything you need. The en suite style bathrooms are something a lot of site should take note of. The local area is pleasant and everyone seems in a great mood. The Fox pub is part of the farm and serves great food, it can get busy in there though so book ahead. You have Dorchester to the West about 25 mins drive, and Blandford to the NE which are both decent towns, with supermarkets etc. You are surrounded by lanes, which add to the countryside vibes but be prepared to pull in to some passing places along the way. Little shop on site sells everything you could need from a local shop, all the essentials. Overall a fantastic stay, on a very delightful farm in the middle of Dorset, if you’re happy with the simple life, then I fully recommend!!

Liked: Greeted and guided around site. Given plenty of information to help with stay. Nice and tidy pitches. The scenery is beautiful. Shower/toilet blocks kept tidy. Hot water to do your washing up. And a shop with plenty to choose from. Would recommend highly to anyone.

Disliked: We wasn’t lucky with the weather. But better luck next time

Local attractions

If beaches are your bag, you’ve hit the big time here as the Jurassic Coast is studded not just with fossils but also sandy coves and rocky inlets: Lulworth Cove is a 40-minute drive away, and if you fancy something wilder, Winspit beach is accessible only by a footpath from Worth Matravers (45 minutes). Another fine way to explore the coast is to make for Weymouth or Poole, both half an hour away, for a boat cruise. Both towns are crammed with further family-friendly attractions including funfairs and an aquarium in Weymouth, and slides and chutes and waterfalls at Poole’s Splashdown waterpark. Monkey World and the Tank Museum are also around half an hour away. For an easy way to see the chalk hills and valleys of inland Dorset, take a seat on the Swanage Railway (50 minutes) for steam rides between the coast and Corfe Castle (40 minutes by car). The castle is well worth clambering over; if anyone’s missing the water, make for the nearby Dorset Waterpark for floating inflatable obstacle courses in a wooded lakeland setting. For another day out with a difference, the graceful residents of Abbotsbury Swannery (45 minutes) were once kept by local monks for the purposes of scoffing at banquets. You can now visit the country's only nesting colony of mute swans and feed them, as well as get lost in the maze, hurtle about the adventure playground and roam the nearby subtropical gardens.
