  • Glamping accommodation in an 11-acre field with glorious Dorset views
  • A 10-minute drive from Durdle Door and Lulworth on the Jurassic Coast
  • Self-contained units with kitchen, bathroom, barbecue and firepit
A stay on a Dorset glampsite usually has the makings of a rather lovely couple’s holiday in a cosy and characterful private space… and that’s just the start of the fine experience you’ll get at Wynards Farm. The glamping units here have been kitted out with all manner of thoughtful and handy touches, including bathrooms with an eco toilet, and well-equipped kitchens with a fridge, cooker and kettle in each. Outdoor time can be spent cooking up meals on the barbecue or keeping cosy by the firepit; all should be nicely warm on the inside as well, thanks to the woodburning stoves. The location here is a real winner too: an 11-acre field with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside (which just happens to be part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for a guarantee of lovely scenery). It’s all got the feel of a place that’s right out in the middle of nowhere, but in fact you can walk to the village shop in Winfrith half a mile away or set out for the local pub a mile away – or just head out onto one of the footpaths and bridleways that run from the property. Along with all this, the family that run this farm make a point of offering a warm welcome to all their guests. Owners Judy and Ray (along with daughter Annabel and partner Lee) meet guests to show them around and give out handy tips on local walks, pubs and the like. Please note that this is a non-smoking site and there’s no wifi.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything about our stay! The views were amazing, Judith couldn't have been more helpful and the shepherd's hut was perfect. We had everything we could have possibly needed and our stay way exceeded expectations. The alpacas, shetlands and horses added to the experience and the smell of hay making in the surrounding fields was a bonus! Highly recommend this lovely location and property.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: My 15 year old niece and I stayed for the weekend in the Shepherds Hut and what a fabulous stay we had, relaxing beautiful set up, we loved the sunset spot fire pit and close facilities for us to go Paddle Boarding at Durdle Door for the weekend. Clean comfortable hot shower that was powerful and great to be with nature

Disliked: A few big spiders in the hut which didn't bother me but my niece wasn't a fan

Shepherd's hut

Liked: I loved staying in the shepherd’s hut which comprised everything I needed and more. The fact that it was in the middle of a meadow with alpacas and chickens made it even more outstanding since I just love being around animals! Judy, Lee and Annabelle were extremely friendly and very helpful in attending to any queries and needs! Also, Judy left me half a dozen free range eggs and some milk with tea bags which was an endearing gesture indeed. Thank you Judy and team for your very warm hospitality xx

Disliked: The weather but that was no fault of the proprietor.

Local attractions

If it’s classic Dorset scenery you’re after, this is the place for you – there are plenty of walks to be had nearby, along with trips to places like Thomas Hardy’s Dorchester and the Saxon walls of Wareham (both 15 minutes’ drive). Dorset’s seaside views are famously spectacular too, of course, so it’s worth spending some time down at the Jurassic Coast. The famed huge stone arch of Durdle Door is about 10 minutes’ drive away, as are the lovely beach of Lulworth Cove, strolls on the South West Coast Path and various watersports to try out. Meanwhile, Weymouth’s sandy beach is about 20 minutes away. Something a little bit different for your day out? How about The Tank Museum (15 minutes) or the entertaining antics of the residents of Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (10 minutes)?
