  • Well-kept and well-equipped Somerset site 10 mins' drive from Taunton
  • Jurassic Coast and north Somerset beaches within a 40-minute drive
  • Easy access from M5; heated bathroom block on site
Now don't be confused by the name of this site… Cornish Farm Touring Park is in fact not in Cornwall but in Somerset – and a very handy Somerset location, too, less than 10 minutes’ drive from Taunton and the M5. That location makes this a useful place to consider for a stopover on a long motorway journey, but it also has much to offer for those in search of a base for a lengthier Somerset stay. It’s just on the edge of the Blackdown Hills National Landscape for rural walks, and both the north Somerset coast and Jurassic Coast are within a 40-minute drive. You won't be short of things to do if you do decide to settle in for a while, whether you choose to head into Taunton to visit the markets and watch a cricket match or head further afield for days visiting places like Exeter, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole. Facilities have been well thought out at this award-winning park too – guests have access to a launderette, a washing-up area and a wifi service, along with a well-maintained bathroom block that’s open all the time, with accessible facilities, baby bathroom and underfloor heating to guard against chilly toes. A motorhome service point and chemical disposal point ensure touring vehicles can be kept in good shape. Guests are welcome to bring a barbecue along to cook dinner, and there are plenty of shops in Taunton for the relevant supplies (or to treat yourselves to a meal out instead…)

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Easy access from M5. Flat pitches, neat and well laid out site. Super warm shower block.

Disliked: Unmanned reception 4.30pm Saturday. Pitch number left out for late arrival but no other information; had to busk everything. Washroom short on well placed hooks.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly campsite warden. Clean site with all necessary facilities. Toasty warm shower block with music and great hot showers. Well maintained site, great fully serviced pitch.

Disliked: About a 40 minute walk to town as no shops nearby, which didn’t bother us but may for some.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely facilities, spotlessly clean and a heated floor which was very welcome as it was cold. Pitches were large although we struggled a bit with reversing caravan in as a car was parked on the end of the pitch opposite (not the site’s fault though). Easy to get to off the M5.

Disliked: Nothing

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: The site was clean and tidy.

Disliked: A little basic amd the potch was small but main dislike was no WiFi as advertised. I was told that people just used their mobile phone data. That's OK if you can get the reception.

Local attractions

Start with a trip into Taunton (10 minutes’ drive/half an hour’s walk along a footpath) – Somerset’s county town has a castle, a museum to visit as well as the colourful Vivary Park to stroll around and several markets to poke about in. If you’re a sports fan, see if you can catch a game of cricket in town or have a flutter at the racecourse a mile from the farm. Heading north, you may like to take a steam-powered ride on the West Somerset Railway from Bishop’s Lydeard (20 minutes), hit the beach in Minehead (45 minutes) or explore Exmoor National Park (50 minutes to the famed Tarr Steps). Turning south instead, it’s a 40-minute drive to Lyme Regis, with the walks of the Blackdown Hills between the farm and coast too. Other days out might take you to Haynes Motor Museum (40 minutes), Cheddar Gorge (45 minutes), Wookey Hole caves (55 minutes), the underground tunnels of Exeter (45 minutes)… it’s very unlikely you’ll run out of things to do…
