Local attractions

The village of Doolin is world renowned for its quality standard of traditional Irish music, with traditional music sessions a nightly occurrence in all the local pubs from 9.30pm, and the weekly Céilí, or Irish dancing session, starting at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon in O'Connors pub. Doolin also houses many award-winning seafood restaurants, while all the local pubs serve food all day. Attractions such as pitch and putt, horse riding, Doolin Cave and its great stalactite, and guided cliff walks are all within walking distance of the site. The new Cliffs of Moher centre, which is a five-minute drive from the site, is not to be missed, with exhibitions to be explored and views to take your breath away. Nearby Lahinch is a surfers' paradise, for experienced surfers and first timers alike. Lahich also has a host of seafood restaurants, bars and a heated indoor swimming pool, gym and Sea Life Aquarium. The Burren region houses some of the rarest flora and fauna in the world today, with its unique karst landscape, an area relatively untouched by modern development. Another attraction is Craggy Island, the house from which the popular TV series Father Ted was shot, which is located right in the heart of the Burren. Ailwee Cave, in Ballyvaughan is also a major tourist attraction, situated in Ballyvaughan. Many other activities and sights are situated in and around Doolin, and the campsite.
