  • Small and friendly site in Doonbeg on the Wild Atlantic Way
  • A few steps from the bay with direct access to the beach
  • Short stroll to pubs, restaurants and shops
A beach, and a bay, and the Wild Atlantic Way... all are smashing strands of an Irish seaside hol. Pitch up steps from the water with direct access to the beach at Co Clare's Strand Camping, a small and friendly site in Doonbeg on the Wild Atlantic Way and a short stroll from pubs, restaurants and shops. Strand Camping's owners are committed camping connoisseurs who've used their expertise and experience to sort a welcoming and immaculate site: 'a little peace of heaven' is just one accolade among many made by chuffed former guests. For activities, surfing is easily sorted from here; Jacques Cousteau has hailed nearby Kilkeel as the best diving spot in all of Europe, and golfers may be keen to hear that Doonbeg is home to a golf club named in 2013 as the best resort in Europe... Back at your peaceful base, the spotless amenities include toilet blocks with free hot showers (a short walk from the pitching area), a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also free wifi.

Local attractions

It's the matter of a minute's walk to get to the bay from here, and there's direct access to the beach for peaceful sandy times. Surfing and other watersports are a minute or two away too; diving is under 10 minutes' drive away at Kilkee, and hiking and cycling are all around: the site owners have extensive local knowledge and can let you know the best routes. Local village Doonbeg is on the Wild Atlantic Way, the scenic coastal route running from the Inishowen peninsula in Co Donegal a mighty 2,500 kilometres all the way down to Kinsale in Co Cork. You can drive to the world-famed Cliffs of Moher easily from the site too (you should reach them in about 50 minutes) and you're also within day trip distance of The Burren and Loop Head lighthouse, each under an hour away. The Killimer to Tarbert river ferry, linking Co Clare to Co Kerry, is about 25 minutes' drive away.
