  • Walkers' paradise and wildlife haven on the Kintyre peninsula
  • Under 10 minutes' stroll from acclaimed Machrihanish Golf Club
  • Spectacular scenery, beach nearby, shop and spotless amenities
Spectacular sea and coastal views, lush beaches, first-rate facilities and a warm welcome from a team who make it their mission to ensure all guests have a tiptop holiday... make this pristine Kinytre peninsula park your excellent Argyll base. The splendid scenery from Machrihanish Holiday Park includes views across Machrihanish bay to Islay and Jura, and across thegreens of the championship links of Machrihanish Golf Club. It's all snugly set on the long, narrow and highly viewsome Kintyre peninsula, a wildlife haven and walkers' paradise within easy reach of distilleries, ancient sites and – for far-reaching day trips – ferry rides across to Ballycastle in Northern Ireland. Or just stay put and settle down on site as the sun dips down over the water: the sunsets here are just stunning. The park is under 10 minutes' drive from Campeltown, a few minutes from the beach at Machrihanish running for four miles to West Port via some of the most acclaimed surf in Scotland. Its excellent facilities and amenities include free wifi, spotless toilets and free showers, a campers' kitchen with microwave, fridge, freezer and kettle, a launderette and a selection of books as well as tourist info. All facilities are accessible and the staff will do everything to accommodate any specific needs – just ask. Pick up snacks, groceries and essentials at the site shop for picnics and barbecues, or make the five-minute saunter to family-friendly The Old Club House restaurant for pub faves and Scottish classics – you may not be surprised to hear that this comes with jaw-dropping views of the local beach below...

Local attractions

Might you desire a wee dram when here? Make for nearby Campeltown, one of five destinations in Scotland classed as an official production region for malt whisky and once home to over 30 distilleries. Three are still around today: Glen Scotia in the High Street, Glengyle in Glengyle Street and Springbank in Longrow, all within 10 minutes' drive. Campeltown's also home to a swimming pool, a gym and a cinema said to be oldest surviving one of its kind in Scotland. A heritage centre is in town too, and a museum with exhibits on local history as well as prehistoric artefacts found around the Kintrye peninsula. Shops, pubs and restaurants are also in town. Just outside The Clubhouse restaurant is Machrihanish Golf Club, an acclaimed 18-hole championship course regularly named as one of the most scenic in Scotland (you might amend that to 'in the world' when you see it; ask the Machrihanish Holiday Park team about discounted green fees for park guests). Take time too for the Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory, to spy on local critters representing around 200 species.
