  • Family beachfront park with a huge range of facilities for all ages
  • Kids' and teens' clubs, bowling and adventure playground with zipwire
  • Pool, crazy golf, amusements, bar lounge, shop and restaurant
Cor, you'll wish your Grannie’s home was as cool as this: slap bang on the beachfront, with an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, tennis courts and Costa coffee on tap… Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park sits beside the powdery white sands of Embo beach near the historic town of Dornoch, in prime position for a romp around the Scottish Highlands. If you’re bringing the family, rest assured that the chances of the little ones getting bored are slim to none. Aside from the pool- and beach-based shenanigans, there’s mini ten-pin bowling, crazy golf, an amusement arcade, kids’ clubs featuring the Starland Krew, plus a great adventure playground with a zipwire, swings and slides. Older children and teens can get stuck into making their own animated movies or hit the decks at a DJ workshop in the Freestyle club. Grownups, meanwhile, will likely appreciate the smashing views across the Dornoch Firth – bottlenose dolphins and seals are regularly seen frolicking in the foam – plus the extensive facilities, which include a bar lounge and restaurant, evening entertainment, shop, launderette and more. Grannie would definitely approve…

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Poor attitude of staff , We wanted to move our booking foreward a week due to doctors appointments but staff said they couldn't t as it was only a week before our arrival ,We had to forego our booking and had waste sixty plus pounds, All our other sites we had booked. five of them .were pleased to change our bookings but not Parkdean, From the time we first booked it was too late to amend it as it seems you have to give 12 weeks notice. So we wasted our money with Parkdean , Never again though ,I will cross them off my list and will never ever book with them again. If you are thinking of booking with them bear this in mind our have some kind of cancellation insurance. Thanks for nothing Parkdean. I even emailed them to ask for our booking reference and was supposed to get a reply within 48 hours but the reply never came.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Good, spacious site. Can see how it was incredible in lovely weather. Didn’t get the chance to really take advantage of all the facilities as it was far too cold and wet to leave the camper! But I know they’re very good.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Great price and great facilities. Even came with free entertainment pass. We visited out of season and it was really good that the site uses dynamic pricing to reflect this. We found a lot of sites in the area charged a standard rate which was pricey for the end of March. Would definitely recommend.

Local attractions

Dornoch, the pretty little town nearest to Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park, has a range of small independent shops, a cathedral dating back to 1224 and one of the best championship golf courses in the world. Otherwise, if you fancy a day trip, there’s a decent variety of things to do nearby. For a fairytale castle with a French flavour, take a tour of Dunrobin Castle, which stages falconry displays twice daily in its beautiful grounds; Black Isle Wildlife Park has child-pleasing meerkats, lemurs and zebras; whisky lovers can wet their whistle at the Glenmorangie Distillery; and the spectacular waterfalls at Falls of Shin are one of the best places in Scotland to see salmon feats of derring-do as the fish leap upstream between May and September, or to go geocaching, walking and cycling along the forest trails. If you don’t mind travelling a bit further, it’s an easy drive to classic destinations such as John O’Groats, Loch Ness and Ullapool.
