  • Peaceful park next to the River Forth, two miles from Aberfoyle
  • In Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, a half-hour drive from Stirling
  • Well-kept pitches with direct access to Loch Ard Forest; dogs welcome
If you’re setting off for Stirlingshire with your eye on finding lots of alfresco activities, you should certainly consider Cobleland Caravan and Camping Site as a base. A couple of miles south of Aberfoyle, this peaceful park is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. That setting means miles and miles of walking and cycling trails stretch out through the surrounding area, with fishing and golf close by too – and watersports, treetop trails, cliff jumping and the like for more intrepid guests. And in fact you don't have to travel far to get started on soaking up the spectacular scenery – you can simply stick around on site, where oak trees tower over the pitches and there’s a backdrop of pretty forest views with the River Forth running along one side of the site. Just beyond the river are paths taking you straight out into Loch Ard Forest for a woodland wander or a dog walk if you’ve brought your pet with you. The pitches at Cobleland are well tended and spacious, with access to all the essential amenities including a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal as well as bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled facilities. Aberfoyle (five minutes’ drive) has a small supermarket for supplies, plus several places to eat and drink.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Stayed for and afternoon and night but we were impressed by the organized and clean environment at the camp site including the showers which were heated and exceptionally clean pitches are all in good locations with ours being high overlooking the river which was really relaxing the campsites location makes it excellent for families with kids as it sits in the middle of trails which are ment for walking or for bicycles, all in all good value for money will definitely recommend to anyone seeking peace and tranquillity.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked: Lovely peaceful site and great scenery. It was also coming to the end of season in November so unsure if it will still be peaceful in the height of summer. Toilets and shower rooms nice and warm which was great and essential since it was the coldest night of the year so far! It was very dark during the night, glad I had a portaloo!

Disliked: Had to wait around on check in as noone around, however once I phoned them they gave me my pitch number, which was fine. It was exceptionally cold and the fresh water taps were frozen to top up water, not their fault, but wasn't ideal. I would have preferred to have given the option to stay in the meadow view area rather than the Forest part to have a better views, but I think we were grouped together since it was the end of season. Lovely clean site and would return.
