You’re guaranteed a warm, Welsh-speaking welcome at Glanmor Isaf – in fact we were very pleased when one of our past guests commented that “the family here do everything to make your stay a happy one, from coming to find you when a lamb is being born to encouraging you to watch them shear the sheep and even trim their toenails!” And we do pride ourselves on our hospitality. In our first year we were particularly pleased to be voted ‘Best Farm for Hospitality’, something we’ll be working hard to achieve again in 2012. After a walk past our elegant stone farm buildings you’ll reach the intimate setting of our tents – under the canopy of a cosy orchard behind the 150-year-old farmhouse, which means the site has excellent seclusion whilst still giving a great farmyard experience. The farm has stunning views back across to Snowdon and the Carneddau Mountains where our sheep and cattle are grazed, and if downhill walking or cycling is your speciality then you’re in luck as we are regularly driving up there and can offer you a lift. The mountain scene is only one part of the picture though, because as you stand in the farm and gaze up at it, the sea and a private pebble beach are directly behind you, a mere field’s walk away. Although you’ve gone luxury camping in Snowdonia, you’ve got a seaside holiday thrown in as well. We’ve farmed here for four generations and are certified organic for Welsh Black cattle, hardy mountain sheep, pigs and chickens. Lambing is a particular early season attraction too. We all look forward to welcoming you here and hope you experience and enjoy what we hold dear: traditional Welsh family farm life and the beautiful, peaceful countryside. Owen and Elin Pritchard

Local attractions

We’re set in a landscape that represents wild Britain at its finest. There’s mountain biking on the North Wales Cycle Track, and climbing and vigorous walking along the North Wales Costal Path, not to mention a private pebble beach that is both a nature reserve and a Site of Specific Scientific Interest stacked with cockles and mussels for your campfire. Your neighbours live in Penrhyn Castle; stray just a little further afield and you’re at the crenulations of Caernarfon and the sandy beaches of Anglesey. You can take in the scenery by narrow-gauge railway as there are four beautiful lines nearby; the most historic of these is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which goes straight up to the summit of Wales’s highest peak. Water sports can be enjoyed on the Menai Straits at Plat Menai Centre, and there are outdoor pursuits galore at Betws y Coed and Llanberis, each around 20 minutes away from Glamor Isaf by car. And for our littler guests there are GreenWood Forest Park and Angelsey Sea Zoo. Things to do in the area Visit National Trust properties – Penrhyn Castle is less than a mile away and Plas Newydd on Anglesey is a 20 minute drive. Walk up to spectacular Abergwyngregyn waterfall (10 minutes drive) and wonder at the 120ft cascade as it flows down from the high peaks of the Carneddau mountains before travelling down to the shores of the Menai Straits. Take in the scenery by narrow gauge railways - the Welsh Highland Railway running from Caernarfon to Porthmadog where it joins the Ffestiniog Railway , the historic steam engine of the Snowdon Mountain Railway that goes right up to the summit of Wales’ highest peak or, especially great for the under 7s is the little Llanberis Lake Railway. Keep children entertained in nearby Greenwood eco friendly forest park ( 15 minutes drive) Pili Palas (butterfly bird and mini-beast palace 15 minutes drive away) and Anglesey Sea Zoo (25 minutes drive). Have a go at all kinds of water sports on the Menai Straits at Plas Menai Center (20 minutes drive away). Visit picturesque Betws y Coed or Llanberis two major hubs for outdoor pursuits and adventure activities in Wales (Betws y Coed 25 minutes by car, Llanberis 20 minutes drive). Anglesey with its diverse and beautiful coastline is 15 minute drive away. Explore long sandy beaches with seaside villages and remote dramatic coves. Have a go at coasteering, search for seals and dolphins in a sea kayak or catch some mackerel to barbecue back at the tent.
