Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Pod, beach & staff were lovely. The campsite itself is nice! It was muddy but can’t be helped as it’s been raining so much! Sunset on the beach is unreal 🥰

Disliked: Toilets smelled awful the whole weekend 👃. Showers stay on about 5 seconds and you have to press again. No space to get ready or put make up on (no where to place your toiletries etc) The washing up sink wasn’t under any cover. Nowhere to park when field too muddy to park next to pod.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Campsite had lots of facilities for younger children

Disliked: The tent field was absolutely flooded. We only booked 2 days before and people told me it had been like that all week. People had to be pulled out the mud . We had to camp outside the campsite on the road with 2 young children as field was too wet to take th van on.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The area is safe and secure so children can run free especially important to me as my little one has additional needs so secure is important. The facilities were lovely and clean, the grounds were well maintained and there was no nuisance noise whatsoever highly recommend visited a few times and will definitely be back next year 😃

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We came here last year on our first attempt of camping as a family and really enjoyed the site. Obviously we have returned and what I really liked to see was that they have invested into the site, with updates like the barrier. It’s a great site, with clean facilities and the site is kept to a high standard.

Disliked: This is not the site’s fault and would possibly limit the amount of spaces if rectified. With the rain, the grass got very muddy and the car had to be towed out at one stage. But this is where I can praise the site once again. I called the reception and they sent a Land Rover out and pulled us out.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Quiet, peaceful site, great location, close to lovely beach and train station (even if trains only every two hours!), easy access for Snowdon, Zip World etc.

Disliked: No real welcome, just handed an envelope with codes for toilet and barrier gate. No pointing out of facilities, explanation of leisure pass, mentioning of the pitch conditions. There was only one outside sink for washing up, with no shelter from the weather (which was wet and windy). All the vans were getting stuck in the mud, needing multiple men or a 4x4 to get out. The staff did come quickly when called to tow out. Showers and toilets clean but in men's you had to hold the button down to keep shower on for more than 5 seconds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Location of site amazing, lots of local amenities to use, and minutes walk to beach.

Disliked: Disliked no one to greet you on arrival had to phone and wait, unlike last year! Given incorrect code for shower /toilet blocks...... Had ask twice before being informed of correct code! Then discovered dishwashing facilities did not exist anymore..... All demolished and not replaced or any sign of...... Not a mention of an apology!!!! Chemical toilet waste disposal area filthy and no running water available. Clients using drinking water supply to rinse camping toilets....... Disgusting but no alternative!!!! Pitches un mowed, very long grass!!!

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: Location

Disliked: The codes given on our welcome envelope didn’t open the toilets as mentioned so imagine the rush arriving with kids in tow Our pod was filthy with dog hair from previous occupant The heater didn’t work, a replacement was given which was smothered in what looked like hot chocolate There was no pot wash and I was told to use the site down the road, no ideal when we have kids and the walk is about 10mins Showers and loo were clean but freezing! No way we’d brave a shower for fear of catching our death. No sanitary bins in the toilets, they seemed to be in the reception area. Grass was long, given the rain we had we’re lucky we didn’t get stuck, the car was spinning and other cans stuck. This site was clearly not ready for occupants over the Easter weekend and should have told us so before arrival

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
