  • Caravan park in a sheltered valley a 15-minute walk from the coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Porthgain village and 15 from St Davids
  • Wifi on site; Tregin village tearoom and pub within five minutes’ walk
If you’re pondering what to do in Pembrokeshire, there are plenty of options for folk staying at Prendergast Caravan Park. This family-run site sits on a pretty parcel of land in a sheltered valley around 15 minutes’ walk from the scenic seaside, making both coast and countryside easily accessible. Getting out to rocky coves, sandy beaches, undisturbed headlands and craggy cliffs is straightforward from this spot – there's many a mile of spectacular scenery to explore around here. Plonked approximately midway between the harbour town of Fishguard (20 minutes’ drive) and the tiny cathedral city of St Davids (15 minutes), it’s an hour’s amble along the coastal path to the seaside village of Porthgain and its old slate mine. Not sure where to start with your tour of Pembrokeshire? Crib ideas from the friendly owners – they’re always happy to share top tips on the local area and their fave things to see and do in this part of Pembrokeshire. They might point you towards Aberfelin cove, around 15 minutes’ walkaway, for a morning of rockpooling, Trefin (five minutes) for lunch at an inn, or Abercastle (25 minutes) to finagle fish from the locals to fry up for supper. A petrol station shop’s about a mile down the road for grabbing the essentials and Trefin has a tearoom and a post office should you be wanting a scone or a stamp. For bigger supermarket stock-ups, head to Haverfordwest, half an hour's drive away. Prendergast Caravan Park has wifi access on site as well as flushing toilets (including a disabled toilet), showers, a baby changing table and a laundry room.

Rio 3 bedroom static caravan

Liked: This was the 2nd year in a row that we’ve booked the same caravan for the same week, and once again we had a lovely time. The site is small and peaceful and is in a great location, and the owner is very nice. We’ll definitely book again next year.

Disliked: The people next to us were VERY noisy but that wasn’t the site’s fault :-) It was just a shame though as we particularly like that it’s a small and peaceful place

Horizon 2015 3 bedroom static caravan

Liked: The campsite: small, tidy, well laid out. Owner: friendly & helpful Accommodation: spacious, well equipped and clean. WiFi an unexpected bonus Location: Perfect base for exploring Pembrokeshire. Beach is walkable as is a great pub ( Ship Inn) Tips: Nearest supermarket of size is Haverfordwest, 30 minutes drive and as a town, not much to see or do there. Tesco do deliver to the site , wish we had done this. Bug Farm and Aquarium (Fishguard) good visits with kids

Herald 3 bedroom static caravan

Liked: This is a very nice, quiet caravan site in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire, offering easy access to the Pembrokeshire coast path. The caravan was comfortable, giving us a good base for our holiday, and the kitchen was equipped with all the basic cooking utensils you might need. Our host was very welcoming and helpful, and we would certainly consider coming back.

Local attractions

Beach hopping? Aim for Abereiddy, known for its bright blue slate-floor lagoon and black sand (10 minutes’ drive), moving on towards award-winning Whitesands Bay and Newgale for surfing or bodyboarding (20 minutes). For time in town, head to Fishguard (20 minutes) for a potter around the pretty harbour, an audience with underwater beasts at Ocean Lab or a sea kayaking tour to some choice spots along the coastline. It's also the place to board ferries for jaunts over to Ireland. If wandering in Wales is more than fine for now, a bus runs between Fishguard and the tiny cathedral city of St Davids. Once you’ve surveyed the Bishops Palace, jump on the Puffin Shuttle to Solva (which runs three times a day in summer) and flutter about in this sweet little fishing village before admiring the views from the Griben headland coastal walk.
