  • Friendly site in rural Pembrokeshire, a 20-minute drive from Tenby
  • A five-minute drive from Oakwood Theme Park and Bluestone Resort
  • A 20-minute drive from the surf beaches of Manorbier and Tenby South
Are you more into castles, rollercoasters, catching waves or getting up close to wildlife? The answer’s not important… not if you take up residence at Hungerford Farm Touring Caravan Park, where such attractions are everywhere you look. This peaceful Pembrokeshire site is a 20-minute drive from Tenby and within half an hour of more activity centres, surf beaches and ancient monuments than you could visit in a month. The nippers may also gently nudge you to note that the fab Oakwood Theme Park is less than a five-minute drive away… You can take it easy sometimes of course… and the owners at Hungerford Farm have built a place that’s well set up for it. Instead of hopping hungrily into your car to fetch breakfast in the mornings, simply toddle across to the summer shop for supplies and have yourself a leisurely start. With a similar appreciation for the small but important details, there’s a field for walking canine companions and a dog shower for cleansing muddy paws. You may be pleased to hear that human washing facilities are indoors… and heated. If you want to remain in the warmth (sometimes the weather demands it), the farm is a five-minute drive from the Blue Lagoon waterpark, whose slides, flumes and lazy river ride are heated to subtropical temperatures.

Continue to the end of the M4 and from Carmarthen follow the brown signs for Oakwood Leisure Park, through St Clears (Little Chef on roundabout), and take the second exit off signposted Whitland (A40). Continue along this road for 13.8 miles, then at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A4075 (still following the brown signs for Oakwood). Continue on this road to the roundabout (Bluestone), and take the first exit (A4075) for 1.5 miles. The site is on the left-hand side. Local attractions

For further rides and adventurous antics, the rides, bumps and screams of Oakwood Theme Park and the waterslides of the Bluestone Resort's waterpark are a five-minute drive away. Those after go-karting, zorbing, paintballing and zipwiring can try them at Heatherton World of Activities (15 minutes). A similar distance away, anyone who likes furry creatures can fill their boots at the fairground, play barn and zoo of Folly Farm, or get frightened (in a good way...) by the animatronic beasts at Dinosaur Park. Further adventures await at Carew Castle and Pembroke Castle (10 and 15 minutes); at the latter you can take a night tour if you dare, or confine yourself to daylight larks like running around the UK’s largest painting, The Great Map of Wales. Surfing sorts can be skimming the seas at popular beaches like Manorbier, Tenby South and Freshwater West within half an hour’s drive. Quieter stretches for walks, rockpooling and paddles, like Waterwynch Bay and Monkstone, are a similar distance, while those seeking clifftop rambles can link up with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path in Tenby. If you're a nautical type, take RIB trips from Tenby harbour (20 minutes), or have a more sedate cruise spotting seals and dolphins. To get closer to the marine wildlife, catch boats from St. Martin’s Haven (50 minutes) for the wild islands of Skomer, Skokholm and Grassholm, home to no-one but whole cities of seabirds.
