  • Quiet site on a family smallholding with views, well off the main road
  • Saundersfoot and Tenby beaches within 25 minutes' drive
  • Donkeys, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats and ponies on site to meet
The splendid parts of Pembrokeshire are well documented: gorgeous beaches, fab coastal walking, top theme parks and ancient castles… Hole yourselves up for hols at Hideaway Escapes, a mile outside of the market town of Narberth, to be well set for easy access to all the above. If you're an animal enthusiast, you'll be enthusiastic about this lush site too: Hideaway has horses, Shetland ponies, alpacas, geese, pygmy goats, donkeys and Mable the friendly pig to meet, as well as the tiny chipmunk who loves to show off… come armed with nuts to see how much. Hideaway is in a cunningly convenient spot, centrally placed for visiting attractions all over the county – it's 15 minutes' drive to the nearest beach at Amroth; 20 to the beaches of Pendine and Saundersfoot; 25 to Tenby, and half an hour to the surfers’ faves of Broad Haven and Newgale. The area's top theme parks are both about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could take a half-hour hike to Narberth Castle to delve into local history instead. And after all that lot? There’s plenty of space in the accommodation field for kids to let off steam running about; grownups, meanwhile, can light up a barbie for an evening of bangers and beer while the stars come out overhead. Essential supplies are available in the honesty shop. Creature comforts include two washing-up areas with hot water and a toilet block with hot showers. There's good news for dog owners here too: friendly hounds are welcome on site and have been provided with their own washing area for the hosing down of mucky pups (less welcome news for the dogs themselves, perhaps…)

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: A beautiful campsite in an idealic location. We had a great stay at hideaway, the facilities were lovely, and the showers were amazing! It was so lovely to be camped surrounded by the animals with lovely views of the pembrokeshire countryside and an added extra of a firepit for every pitch too.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Just got back from a 4 night stay here, myself my partner and our 9 year old daughter. We absolutely loved every minute of it, the owners Lesley, Sarah and her husband were fab, super friendly and attentive nothing was to much bother for them. They were great with the kids, allowing them to help feed and take care of the animals. Creating a duck hunt for new arrivals, great way to familiarise yourselves with the site, and a daily golden duck hunt where the kids can win a prize. The site itself is perfectly located, if like us you like to explore different places, 30 minutes to many different towns, villages and beaches. Everything you need onsite, with a well stocked honesty shop. We also loved the fact that each pitch had its own fire pit and picnic bench, not many places offer this. We will definitely be returning next year and potentially further into the future.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: this site was honestly one of the best sites ive stayed at. from the moment we arrived we was greeted by a very welcoming friendly family who showed us to our pitch and explained all about the site. the animals were a massive hit with my three young children, they were allowed in to go and feed and stroke the duck charlie and the chickens they also loved going into see and feed the rabbit. we was contemplating extending our stay but with the forecast being bad rain we decided not to and was very sad to be leaving we will definetley be returning here and hopefully for longer next time. the facilities on site are very good aswell there was proper showers access to hot water for dish washing, chargers for our phones and devices, an honesty shop which is open all the time and if we had any problems which we did not then we where shown where to go. honestly this site was amazing and i look forward to be returning here again.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely little site - small enough so that those with young children can let them play without worrying about them getting lost. Small well positioned play park, well stocked honesty shop, handy fridges and phone charging devices. Lots of animals for kids to enjoy. Lovely owners. Highly recommend.

Disliked: Not a problem for us but hot water supply was limited at peak times on a busy bank holiday weekend. Only a few toilet/shower options but all kept clean by friendly staff.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely, small quiet campsite. Easy to find, and plenty of places to visit near by. Lovely clean facilities, love their honesty shop. Animals were brilliant and friendly. Lovely owners, would visit again. Pitches were very generously sized (on a slight slope but we didn’t really notice this once set up) with a bench and fire pit for every pitch. Found this was a lovely touch. Fire wood/logs were also available to buy. We parked in the car park due to the wet weather however we found this was brilliant as children could run and play around the field without worrying about damaging cars with balls etc. Really great campsite.

Disliked: Wasps!! We found we had loads of wasps by us (pitch 5), unsure if other campers experienced the same. Obviously no fault to the campsite, and they were harmless if left alone. Just has to make sure we kept food and drinks covered. This didn’t impact our stay, however wouldn’t be an honest review if not mentioned.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Could freeze ice blocks

Disliked: The toilet and shower facilities were tatty and often dirty. Bins overflowing. Broken things left around, stinging nettles near enclosures where children would pet animals (a child got a shock from the electric fence due to insufficient warning signs). Children’s play area needs attention

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendly staff who were very helpful. The animals and the playground were a huge hit with the kids and there was a lot of space to run about in. The setting is lovely and quiet but close to some gorgeous beaches and other attractions. We loved our stay here.

Disliked: Not the cleanest of toilets/ showers and could do with a bit of tlc but plenty of hot water
