  • Small wildlife haven site set around a large pond
  • Within walking distance of many attractions including Heatherton
  • Modern toilet and shower block
What a peaceful place… Pembrokeshire's Carn Springs, in a wildlife haven near the coast at Tenby, is set in mature grounds with a central lake making up a natural habitat for many species of birds, waterfowl and other critters: rest relaxedly here around the campfire to see swallows and bats flitting overhead as dusk falls… This is a site for switching off at, whether you want to lie back and think of nature spotting, read, paint, or visit the many traditional towns and villages nearby. When/if you want to switch on again, Heatherton World of Activities, Manor House Wildlife Park and Tenby Dinosaur Park are all within walking distance and the harbour village of Saundersfoot is a short drive away. Carn Springs has geese, guinea fowl, chicken and ducks so free-range eggs are often available. Its modern toilet and shower block has large showers and hot running water; the site also has a washing-up area and chemical disposal.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Friendly, picturesque site. A gift of Welshcakes on arrival. Lovely touch. Especially pleased that had sugar in as shop bought ones don’t. Thank you. View of lake.

Disliked: Found it difficult to bang some pegs in due to possibly concrete underneath sandy patch.

Liked: Other campers. Very friendly.

Disliked: Our first night was very loud, a farmer was using machinery for hours in the night. Traffics from the road is also loud. The pitches were too close together. Seems the site just try too squeeze as many people on as possible. There was always a wait for showers. Which then had too be cleaned myself. I left a day early. £45 per night is expensive for this site.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very friendly and helpful manageress, beautiful site around attractive large lake, extremely generous pitch area, and exceptionally good shower block, with individual rooms containing loo, basin and shower, all very clean.

Disliked: It would have been helpful to have been told from the outset that only sorted rubbish was accepted.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch (lake view)

Liked: Lovely site. Modern and clean shower blocks. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Great location. Nice and quiet site. Although it was getting busy for the bank holiday. Short drive to Tenby and Saundersfoot and other attractions. Have to pay extra for wifi - not a bad thing as good to get away from internet. Idea of camping is to enjoy outdoors not spend it clued to technology. Phone signal is good and did have 4g so could access if needed so not totally off grid.
