  • Overlooking the seashore on the coastal path a mile from Aberaeron
  • Spectacular views of the Llŷn Peninsula and north Wales mountains
  • Outside barbecue area with firepit
Ever dreamed of jacking it all in and running off to a little cottage by the sea? Well, here’s your chance to bring that to life (at least for a little while…) with a trip to FishermanCabins, in the Ceredigion coastal village of Aberarth. It’s highly likely that the setup here will mirror the image you’ll have in mind of such an escape: the spacious blue cabin is right by the coast path with spectacular views out over the sea and the Llŷn Peninsula, all the way to Bardsey Island. Fancy a feast while taking in that scenery and sea air? Bring along bits to cook at the barbecue area or crack open drinks and snacks while warming yourselves by the flames of the firepit. Given the location next to the coast path, walks are inevitably top pick around here; bring along a surfboard too if you’d like to hit the waves at Aberarth beach, a short trot away. Those who are skilled/lucky with a fishing rod can have a go at beach casting here, cooking up any catches on the barbecue for a proper seaside treat. As locations for a seaside retreat go, this one’s a cracker – it may be a peaceful spot right by the beach but it’s also handy for the A487 and a mere mile from shops, pubs and other amenities in Aberaeron. Nights are likely to be properly cosy too, as the cabin has a woodburning stove to keep the bedroom and separate living area (kitted out with a TV) nicely warm. There’s a small kitchen in the cabin and a private toilet/shower room is a 20-metre dash away.

Liked: Everything! Has all you need. From the lovely, cosy cabin to the amazing sunset that you can watch as you BBQ by the sea. Beautiful coastal path right outside the cabin where you can walk into the lovely seaside town. 4th time visiting and already looking at when we can return. Clive and Diana are the perfect hosts. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing break away from life's chaos. We had such a ball, it's been amazing.

Liked: Excellent location, very relaxing and the only sound was the lapping of the waves. The cabin was very clean and the log burner kept the whole cabin lovely and warm. Clive was so helpful and friendly and we could not have asked for a better host. We cant wait to come back.

Liked: Location, surroundings, cleanliness, facilities Wow! what can I say , such an amazing place to relax & unwind. Amazing location & surroundings made even better by the good weather we had. To wake up & lie in bed with door open listening to the waves is phenomenal. To sit of an evening with the fire pit gazing at the stars & the horizon you just can't beat anywhere else. Everything you could need inside with stove, kettle, toaster etc even tvs although just listening to waves & seagulls is enough. Great location on the Ceredigion coastal path meant we had a great hike into Aberaeron & llanchereon- really is nothing you can't do Thanks to Clive as a host & starting our log burner on arrival the Friday night. Will definitely be back & recommend to anyone to try it

1 bedroom cabin (double)

Liked: Fantastic location with beautiful views up the coastline. Whether rough or smooth, the sea is mesmerising. Although very private, the property is close to local amenities. There is plenty to do in the Cardigan Bay area - we went dolphin spotting at New Quay and visited several heritage railways. Great places to eat locally too. The area looks to be a surfer's paradise with surfers making the most of the waves each morning. The hut itself is fairly basic but has everything you need for a relaxing cosy stay at any time of year. Great hosts. Book with confidence.

Local attractions

Clearly you can’t come all this way to the west Wales coast without setting foot on the coast path – it’s right there outside your door, after all. If you’re struggling to pick a route or section, have a chat with the site owners. They’re keen walkers themselves and happy to help out with ideas both coast-based and further inland (where there are even more fab views). Not content with just looking at the sea? Take yourselves off for a paddle at one of the nearby beaches, such as Llangrannog (a half-hour drive) or Mwnt (45 minutes), or aim for nearby New Quay (15 minutes) for all manner of active times on the waves. Paddleboarding, windsurfing, sea kayaking and sailing lessons can all be had here, as can fishing and dolphin-spotting boat trips. If indoor activities are needed, aim for In The Welsh Wind Distillery, the Internal Fire Museum of Power or the New Quay Honey Farm, all of which are within a half-hour drive.
