Local attractions

A whole range of excellent attractions and activities available on the doorstep of Trai-A-Llanw: - Walking: the campsite is directly on the Ceredigion coastal path, making it an ideal stopover for backpackers. As well as the coastal path, there are walks around and beyond the village into deeply wooded valleys and moorland. - Surfing: given the right conditions Aberarth has excellent surfing beaches. For those of you not wanting to get into the water, it proves to be an entertaining show. - Boating/kayaking: there are facilities for launching fishing/day boats in Aberaeron Harbour. Trai-A-Lanw is ideal for launching kayaks with the steps providing access to the shore. - Natural history: red kites are prolific here, the more observant may see chough, peregrine, stonechat, wheatear, flocks of goldfinch, on the shore there are oystercatcher, curlew and many other shoreline species. Seals are often seen quite close in and nearby Newquay is famous for dolphin spotting. Otters are known to live along the River. Although Aberarth beach isn't really a bathing beach, it has wonderful rockpooling, especially around the remains of the ancient Goredi fish traps at low tide - Fishing: beachcasting can produce dogfish, huss and the occasional ray. Given the right conditions, spinning or plugging produces quality Bass. There is a good tackle shop in Aberaeron. - Touring nearby: central located for exploring Ceredigion, visiting the 'hinterland' locations, the Cambrian mountains and the beaches of Newquay, Llangranog, Aberporth, Mwnt and Tresaith. - Eating out: Aberaeron is famous for its restaurants and eateries and you are close enough to walk back. - Kids: there is playground in the field and a good playground in the village just 100 yards from the site.
