  • Small family-run park three miles from Cardigan and Mwnt beach
  • A quarter of an hour's drive to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Woodland walk and two kids' play areas
Brongwyn Touring Caravan and Camping Park is set in a luxurious countryside location in West Wales and close to the cracking beaches of Cardigan Bay for fishing, coastal walks, swimming and golf. Although there's a lot on offer on site, Brongwyn is a small family-run park with an easygoing and peaceful vibe. Its amenities are spotlessly maintained and include toilets, free hot showers, hairdryers and a toilet for disabled guests. There's also a woodland walk, two play areas and an indoor games room. The market town of Cardigan is three miles away to pick up supplies and the local shop is about 15 minutes' walk away.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Peaceful site. Great outdoor play area with selection of slides our son loved. Nice to have indoor play area option too though only visited once. Very close by to Mwnt beach which was beautiful.

Disliked: Would have been great to have indoor pool & Bistro open as added bonus but understand they've been closed for some time.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: The pitch sizes. The childrens play areas were large. The toilets & showers were clean at all times. The owners were friendly & easy to approach. Would definitely stay again if the issues were sorted in the dislike section.

Disliked: We booked this site as it states it has disabled facilities. Yes they have disabled bathroom but there is no working shower as it’s disconnected as it leaks all out onto the floor in the hallway. My husband was provided with a plastic chair (my request was for a stool of some kind) to be able to use the normal showers. He is an amputee so unable to stand unaided. Well the legs on the plastic chair skidded in all different directions as the tiles have no grips & split leaving him lying on the floor. Eventually I managed to use his manual wheelchair to back him up in the shower but hardly ideal. We booked this place purely on it having disabled facilities (which is always a struggle) & to find they disconnected it without putting something on pitchup about it is a bit naughty. Also quite confused as to why the disabled mirror was so high up as anyone in a wheelchair would not be able to see a thing in it.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Very quiet secluded site, lovely play area for the children, sheltered large pitches, clean facilities centrally located for mwnt beach cardigan and new quay honestly very happy with our booking here

Disliked: It's honestly not a huge deal and it wouldn't stop me going again but the showers are a bit strange the water seems to be set as a circle and because they are so high if you stand in the middle you remain dry. There is also a number code on toilets door obviously for a reason but was just an obstacle for when you are desperate in middle of night.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We stayed at Brongwyn for three nights to visit Cardigan and the beach at poppit sands. The site was easy to find and the pitches were of a good size and were very well maintained. The whole of the site was very well maintained. The shower block was extremely clean with plenty of hot water. I needed to stay a bit longer on the last day where departures are at 1100 hrs. I contacted the owner by email and they responded very quickly and invited me to speak with them in person when at the site. The owners were very pleasant people and were able to accomodate my request. Thanks for a lovely stay at a lovely site.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: A quite and clean site except for 1 issue which is noted in the dislikes. Staff friendly but few of.

Disliked: Toilets and showers are clean but the building is dark inside and has a heavy musky smell due to the lack of natural ventilation and to gain access to the building it has a coded lock ! why as the site is in the middle of know where, internal lighting works by pir switches so if your are using either the toilets or shower the lights go out quickly so your times up get out. Shower heads are set permanently very high even for a person who's over 6' so a child using them would find them not very good. Hot water was tempered only just,TV reception was good but Wifi totally useless. There website states they have a Spa facility/on site Club with Bistro/Swimming Pool/Games Room all of these facilities are shut, even the reception office. The woodland area is more like the Amazon rain forest and you would need a machete to get through it and the site is rated 4* Really !!.The camp site must have been a good one years ago as they have the building but are not in use any more and does not give the same impression as the website shows. The final gripe was as I parked the camper up on the pitch which we were given I opened the door only to step in either foxes or dog sh*t so the pitch could have not been checked prior arriving. Its a shame to give a review like this as its the first time I've done won for a camp site but for what was paid and got it was not worth the trip as we have been to this area a few times now so a bit of a let down. Other reviews also stated facilities are shut so how can they get away with this.

From the manager: I’m so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay with us - but I appreciate the opportunity to respond - We get so many happy guests and good reviews that it concerns us to learn that you were disappointed with your stay and that we didn’t come up to your expectations but for possible future guests I am grateful for the opportunity to respond. Firstly glad we got something right - - Quiet and clean site YAY... and friendly staff - Thank you...that's just me and my husband now - but so glad we ticked your friendly box! :) You mention that the toilet block is dark inside - agreed there is no natural light - but plenty of lights and fans that come on all day and night with movement (sorry if someone may have left a musky smell - but it is after all a toilet block - but thanks for mentioning it - we've put in some extra air fresheners! ) As for the height of the showers - not had any complaints from children using them - they are set high so taller guests can use them too - I can't really see why this should be a reason for a negative comment - but sorry if this caused you a problem. You have commented on the closed facilities that are advertised on our website but you cant book online through the website!! You booked through PITCH UP so were not offered these facilities in our site description. When you booked I sent you (as I send all Pitch Up guests) an email stating that these facilities are closed - so why would you expect them to be open? And as you say - previous reviews have also stated this -so its not really a secret. The Gaines room is open as is laundry / wash-up - did you actually open the doors to see? And WIFI? agreed not a strong signal - it is what it is - you wont get it on the campsite itself but around the (closed) reception area and in the games room WHICH IS OPEN!! its not bad.and most folk find its ok. And the dog / fox poo? This is a country area so along with the joy of seeing rabbits, squirrels, foxes, badgers, red kites, buzzards etc comes the chance of a stray poo - sorry you got one! We are really sorry you didn't enjoy your stay – Best regards Anna

Local attractions

As it's Cardigan, get prepped to spend a lot of time on beaches and on coast. The nearest beach is Mwnt three miles away, a cracking little cove now managed by the National Trust and where dolphins are often sighted from the sands, but it's a mere short drive to more splendid sands: Aberporth, Gwbert, Tresaith, Poppit Sands and Penbryn are all within 15 minutes. This is walking country too, whether your tastes tend towards countryside, woodland, hills or coast: inland, wander among the west Wales villages, the Preseli Hills, around the country park and reservoir of Llys y Fran reservoir and the River Teifi valley; on the coast, tramp the coastal paths of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire National Park for dazzling sea views. Heaps more indoor and outdoor activities and attractions are within driving distance: just a few suggestions are Folly Farm, Cardigan Golf Club, Oakwood Theme Park, Theatr Mwldan, the Small World Centre, Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, the National Trust's Llanerchaeron, Cilgerran Castle, Welsh Wildlife Centre, Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve, Dolaucothi Gold Mines, St Dogmaels Abbey and Coach House, the Y Felin water mill, Iron Age hill fort Castell Henllys, Dyfed Shires Horse Farm... More? Particularly recommended by the Brongwyn Touring Caravan and Camping Park team are the National Coracle Centre and Cenarth Flour Mill, Teifi Valley Steam Railway, the National Wool Museum, Curlew Weavers Woollen Mill, Internal Fire Museum of Power and the Gwersyll Llangrannog Activity Centre for dry skiing and snowboarding.
