  • Pods on a working farm in a valley near Lampeter
  • Private trout fishing lake
  • Hot tub with spectacular Welsh countryside views
What could possibly be better than toasting in a hot tub with views of your private trout fishing lake and of the cracking Welsh countryside, on a site with camping pods so classy they have their own heated towel rails? Perhaps a glass of wine on the patio beside the hot tub while the kids are otherwise occupied at the outdoor play area or bouncing on the trampoline? Taking a kayak or boat out on the lake? Dolphin spotting from the cracking coast of Cardigan Bay five miles away? Have the lot, why not, at Cwmcoedog Farm in Ceredigion, a working farm in a wooded valley near the town of Lampeter. The posh pods at Cwmcoedog Farm all have electricity, heating and a firepit, plus access to a smart bathroom pod with shower, loo and washing facilities (please note you'll need to bring along bedding, towels and whatever kit you need for cooking and eating). A pizza oven, microwave, kettle and disposable barbecues are on hand to help create meals and drinks, and podders can also use the laundry room with washer/dryer, drying area and secure bike storage. No sunshine some day? No problem: the laundry room doubles as a games room for playing pool, darts and table tennis, having a natter with other guests about your west Wales plans, or telling all and sundry how much you like bubbling in the hot tub…

Camping pod

Liked: absolutely beautiful place to spend you weekend, beach 20min away.my kids loved it there. would highly recommend for those who want to escape noisy town or city. clean bathroom and small kitchen with the freezer. this is all you.

Disliked: disliked that the owner or the people who lives in the farm booked time slot to go into hot tube. i was shocked when i see that people from the warm booked in on saturday night when clearly there were some couples who wanted to enjoy thing that they paid for. in my opinion that not supposed to happen… also our pod had no blind on door so we struggled because of the early sunrise.

From the manager: I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. We as Owners never use the Hot tub but it is a shared hot tub with another 4 glamping pods and 1 holiday cottage, therefore it would have been other guests who had booked the hourly slots not us. You should have contacted to tell us about the Blind - we would have replaced this for you. I hope these issues didn't spoil your break and that you will come back again .

Camping pod

Liked: We had an absolutely wonderful stay at cwmcoedog, the pod was more spacious than I was expecting and slept all 5 of us (2 adults and 3 children aged 9, 7 & 4) perfectly. Brilliant facilities- our washroom was lovely, the hot tub was great and we made use of the provided fire pit and pizza oven. The children particularly loved the lake and the boats. We had the best weather for swimming too! With only a handful of other accommodation on site it was peaceful and relaxing and great to be among so much wildlife- sheep, lambs, donkeys, geese, goslings, Kites, swallows and bats to name a few. Thanks so much for providing such a beautiful spot for a lovely break for our family.

Camping pod

Liked: We really love this place. Everything was as described and even better. Everything was clean and ready for us to use. Our children had a lovely time, they loved the animals around, the hot tub (us too), and the playground, the pizza making experience, which we all enjoy as a family. The area has amazing places to visit around with woods, river walk, lovely towns. Very convenient located to visit places around. Some cleaning products are provided, we brought our fire pit but there is one provided for each pod which I found amazing. We also had some fun in the games room, convenient for a rainy time. Toilet was spotless. We were lucky as eventhough it was a bit cloudy we had a couple of very clear nights for stargazing. Also new quay is an amazing town to visit which give the chance to watch dolphins in their habitat. We’ll definitely come back to this spot to explore more the area around and have a comfortable stay.

Camping pod

Liked: Had a amazing time here there was a small amount of pods so was very peaceful. Nice little games room fishing lake and some very friendly donkeys cooking area was great to sit and chat in when it was raining with some pizzas in the oven. Pods was clean and beds was easy to assemble was able to fit 2 adults and 2 children at the lower bed. Having out own shower unit was excellent.

Disliked: Only thing I can say I disliked was bumping my head on the bunk bed other than that it was perfect.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The Bunk bed can be unhooked down to form the headrest for the big bed - to avoid you bumping your head on it. Would love to welcome you back. Thanks.

An excellent site with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere!

Camping pod

Liked: Absolutely beautiful scenery and location with good amenities and lots of things for our daughter to do. She has now become an avid Table Tennis fan! We also did a lot of fishing in the lake where she caught her first fish. It was extremely relaxing and great to watch all the various wildlife skim over the lake or circle the woods just behind the site. We saw Bats, Buzzards, Kites, Swallows and huge flocks of Wagtails, to name but a few! The low number of cabins and pods made the whole stay hugely relaxing, and with only really us and one other family on the site for most of the week. Would definitely recommend and look to stay there again.

Disliked: We only had two minor gripes really. firstly their was no hot water for the first day (a problem with the boiler that was promptly dealt with), but then there was nothing but hot water! you had to run the taps for a while to get it cold again. I think the sinks that they have in the shower units should be changed to have two taps and a better drainage system. Secondly it says that there are trout in the lake. As someone who has fished many a trout in his time I can tell you that I didn't see any evidence of this. A shame as I was looking forward to catching some, but it was still fun fishing for the numerous Rudd that fill the lake. Maybe they are there, somewhere, lurking in the depths???

Local attractions

Most holidaymakers who come to this smashing part of Wales do so for the Cardigan Bay coast and New Quay, famous for its bottlenose dolphins and the Ceredigion Coast Path with beach, cliff, bay and seaside village landscapes. Start off at New Quay’s Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre to immerse yourself in facts about the area and to sort boat trips into the bay to see the seals, dolphins and porpoises visible here; guaranteed sightings are along the other direction of the coast at the island nature reserve Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (where you’ll also see a wallaby and a few Vietnamese pigs). Hiking and biking are also the order of the day around here: as well as the coast path, Ceredigion has an extensive network of walking and cycling paths for all abilities. From Lampeter, a cycle path goes coastwards through the Aeron Valley to the seaside town of Aberaeron; stop off en-route for a look at the riverside eighteenth century mansion Llanerchaeron, now managed by the National Trust. There are woodland routes around Lampeter for walkers and horse riders, with more through south Ceredigion to rhyd around Rhydlewis, and canters/strolls along the Nant Seilo valley south of Penrhyncoch. Blue Flag beaches such as Mwnt, Llangranog and Penbryn abound along the west Wales coast, with more watersports, fishing and many more active options to hand at the two national parks within an hour’s drive: Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast. Head for the River Teifi and the Teifi Valley for canoeing and fishing respectively, and try Brechfa Forest for off-road cycling for all abilities. Or trip to one of west Wales’s well-known visitor attractions: any mini podder in your party will have fun at award-winning Folly Farm about an hour away in Pembrokeshire, and panning out the options at Dolaucothi Gold Mines. We have a sneaking suspicion they’ll be up for a day of white knuckle rides at Narbeth’s Oakwood Theme Park or having a stonkosaurus time at Tenby’s Dinosaur Park too… As with the rest of Wales, this corner of the country is packed with historic highlights from castles to country houses to Iron Age forts; if you like your historic trips steamy, try the Gwili Railway near Carmarthen or the Teifi Valley Railway in Henllan near Newcastle Emlyn.
