  • Secluded glamping spot on a farm on the edge of the Brecon Beacons
  • 60 acres of woodlands, meadows and bluebell patches to wander
  • Easy access from the A40 and five minutes' drive from Sennybridge
‘Iechyd da!’ as they say around here (that’s ‘cheers’ for those who skipped Welsh language lessons at school). And well may you opt to raise a celebratory glass at Gilfach Farm – to your location, your comfy digs... and indeed to your clever self for picking this mighty scenic spot. The 60-acre property here has never been intensively farmed so the natural environment has been retained, with bluebell patches, wildflower meadows, a stream and ancient woodlands among the areas guests are welcome to wander around. Walk up to the highest point of the property for views over the Brecon Beacons and Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in the park. As you wander around the farm, look overhead to see if you can spot any of the red kites and buzzards that often circle above the valley. Back down on the ground you may well encounter the farm’s resident horses, free-range chickens and ducks... and a very friendly labrador... Although the farm is secluded, it's a cinch to get to, a few minutes' drive from the A40. Cafés, shops and a fish and chip takeaway are at local village Sennybridge five minutes' drive away and country pubs are within a few minutes’ drive. Better be learning how to say 'cheers' like a native then...

Local attractions

The Brecon Beacons National Park is the major draw around here, and has plenty of activities to keep all tastes occupied for days on end among its limestone gorges, waterfalls, lakes and viewpoints. About 180 geocache spots are hidden around the park for something a bit different, or you could join a horse riding or pony trekking tour from Llangorse or take to the air in a glider from Talgarth – both are around a half-hour drive from the farm. For subterranean adventures, the place to start is the National Showcaves Centre for Wales 20 minutes way, for guided tours of three huge cave systems, ancient rock formations and underground waterfalls. There’s an Iron Age village here too, along with a dinosaur park and a shire horse farm. Stick around outdoors by night too: the Brecon Beacons was one of the world's designated Dark Sky Reserves. Various events are held throughout the year to help you make the most of the stargazing, but on a clear night you can do pretty well on your own by just picking a spot, killing the torch and looking up.
