Woodhouse Farm, the home of Mid Wales Camping and Caravanning, is in peaceful countryside with great views from your pitch. The site is on level well-draining grass with five individual pitches, each with full electric hookup facilities. These are large with plenty of space for modern family tents. Toilets, showers and washing-up facilities are available. Adjacent to this is a field which is available for tents, rallies and other events during the summer months.

Route directions

From Rhayader Take the B4518 towards St Harmon for about 6 miles. Go through the village of St Harmon and continue to the next village, Pant y Dwr. Turn right opposite the Mid Wales Inn, signed to Bwlych Y Sarnau. Take the first turn on the right (about 1 mile) just before a garage. Do not miss this turning! After 1/2 mile you will see Woodhouse on the right indicated by a signpost and a Camping and Caravanning Club sign. Please do not call at the bungalow adjacent as this is a separate property, and nothing to do with us. Also, do not use a satnav based on postcodes to find us because it will take you to the wrong direction. Our Ordnance Survey grid reference is SN998750.

Local attractions

The location of Woodhouse Farm right in the heart of the Mid Wales countryside makes it ideal for a whole range of outdoor activities. Here are just a few examples: Birdwatching: we have an incredible selection of birds and nature in general at Woodhouse Farm and in the surrounding countryside, and regularly have 'birders' staying. Fishing: the River Wye is just on our doorstep. It is one of the last remaining wild rivers in the United Kingdom and is renowned for its salmon fishing. The River Marteg, passing through Woodhouse Farm is a tributary of the Wye and an important salmon spawning river. Canoeing: as with fishing, the River Wye is superb for canoeing. Water levels permitting you can start at the Marteg Bridge and canoe the short distance to Rhayader, or if you are feeling really ambitious all the way to the river's mouth at Chepstow! Walking, cycling, mountain biking and riding: with miles of unspoilt and quiet lanes and tracks it is possible to come up with a different route every day. Glyndwrs Way, the Wye Valley walk, Lon Las Cymru and national cycle routes 8 and 81 are all close by.
