  • Family-friendly site in the Landes d'Armagnac
  • On the edge of the Gascon Landes Regional Nature Park
  • Pool, fishing pond, bar, restaurant, fitness equipment and library
Lush and in Landes… get yourself over here. And bring your fishing rod, your hiking boots and your best sightseeing hat, for there's a nicely rounded lot of things to do in the surrounding countryside… best book for at least a (couple of) week/s. Camping Le Pin is a green, peaceful and family-friendly site in the Landes d'Armagnac and on the edge of the Gascon Landes Regional Nature Park. Its setting just outside the village of Saint-Justin has it half an hour's drive from the Landes capital of Mont-de-Marsan, a top spot for rambles and hikes in Landes forest as well as scenic strolls along the banks of three rivers. Take your pick from activities – and places aplenty for lazing – on site too: this well-kitted place has a fishing pond, small library and wifi access to aid idling, and a pétanque court, table football, volleyball court, badminton court, table tennis and fitness equipment for active and virtuous hours. And as tuckered-out enfants = blissed-out grownups, you might be chuffed to hear there's a playground and summer entertainment on site too. For your foodie needs, there'a a bar/restaurant (with outdoor terrace), a bread deposit service here and communal barbecues for open-air cookouts. The site also has two smart amenities blocks, one of which is kitted out for babies if you have a very small offspring along on hol.

Local attractions

You'll need at least a day in Mont-de-Marsan whatever flavour of hol you go for: sightseers and cultural connoisseurs both have loads of top picks here. Any sightseeing should start off with a saunter of the Old Town (walking tours around its handsome old buildings run year round on request via the tourist office), followed by a peaceful and restful time at the Japanese garden and flower garden of Parc Jean Rameau. Animal Park Nahuques and its adventure playground are to hand too if the kids are now revolting, and has free admission. (Or take them to Château de Gaujacq, an hour and five minutes' drive away, where they can dress up in 17th-century clothing.) If you're more up for getting active, take the bike path from Mont-de-Marsan to Villeneuve-de-Marsan (about 17 kilometres), or set off along the towpath on the Tartas part of the Midouze river.
