Set alongside a lake in the scenic Cantal department, Camping Les Rives du Lac lies 100 metres from the lush and scenic shores of 600-hectare Espinet lake in Saint-Gérons. It's simple to sort your itinerary around here: there’s plenty of tourist stuff at the site’s info point to help plan days seeing sights and going on jaunts around the locale, around handsome Laroquebrou, to the local waterpark, and to shows at Saint-Étienne-Cantalès’ splendid open-air theatre. Camping Les Rives du Lac is set across four shaded hectares, with loads of options for leisure among its green and peaceful space and surrounds: try fishing, swimming and canoeing in the lake 100 metres from base, or splashing around in the roomy main pool and kids’ pool. The site also has has a seasonal snack bar, a solarium alongside, a grocery store (selling freshly baked bread in high season too), and regional produce from the site’s own mini farmers’ market once a week. Other facilities to keep all entertained include a big communal TV to cosy up in front of, plus a beach volleyball court, pétanque courts (with weekly tournaments), ping pong tables, a playground and trampoline to use year round, as well as weekly pony rides during the summer hols. Come evening time during peak months, a site social once a week is made up of an evening meal and a DJ set afterwards.

Remain around the lake for outdoor options in and around the water, like sunbathing at its beaches and walking and pedalling around its perimeter, plus swimming, fishing for carp and canoeing on the lake. Horse riding is a popular pick around here too. Take the kids to the waterpark at nearby Rénac beach, where there's loads on offer that’ll thoroughly impress all ages: lawn parties, picnic areas and snack bars selling ice creams, drinks and other treats, plus a treetop ropes course, a climbing wall, trampolines, family games, and giant inflatables and waterslides on the lake itself.
