Family frolics and fresh air are on tap at O2 Camping, among Normandy fields and farmland in a peaceful rural spot. Lanes for rural rambling are just outside the site, and it's also only 10 minutes’ drive from sea breezes at a sandy beach. There’s plenty to fill your time on site when not out and about: a sizeable playing field caters for games of football, volleyball, frisbee or anything else you can dream up, or you can play out more personal grudges with a game of table tennis or French fave pétanque. The indoor pool is the venue for aqua gym classes and poolside yoga sessions, and has a paddling pool for smaller splashers. Hoping for more of a sit down? Borrow books and games from the library and sink into a hammock or deckchair for a leisurely lounge. And if relaxation doesn’t come as naturally as you hoped, perhaps you need to enlist the help of one of the masseurs that comes by on summertime evenings and weekends… For evening eats, stock up on food at the supermarket 10 minutes away and get grilling on the communal barbecue – perhaps giving your dish an extra je ne sais quoi with a scattering of freshly picked herbs from the site garden. Duly fed, amble over to the bar for cool drinks and chat on the terrace as the sun sets. Naturally, you'll be needing some fresh bread for your petit déjeuner the next day, so order ahead and a kindly baker will deliver it to the site.

Liked: Green and verdant, nice well drained pitch (despite a deluge). Quiet and surrounded by trees and wild flowers. Well organised site with superb showers and toilets. Pizza night with produce from the site. You could order croissants and bread for morning.

Disliked: The picnic tables outside the office could benefit from some shade.

Liked: Welcome at reception in English. Very quiet spot and not busy at all. Clean toilets and showers, lots of hot water. Swimming pool available if wanted. Close to main centre by car for food and supplies. 22€ per night exceptional value.

Disliked: Site location meant no local places to eat. Otherwise nothing

Liked: We stayed at O2 Camping for one week in August. We had a wonderful time at this quiet campsite. The staff all speak English but they were patient when I tried my rusty school French out. My children loved the (clean) swimming pool and the goats next to the toilet block! All the facilities are clean and well maintained. The campsite is quite new I think so some of the planting and trees are still quite small but I can see how it will be a beautiful green place in a few years time. There are high grass borders and wild flower meadows for insects everywhere, they were a bit yellowed as it was very dry in France but great to see that the owners want to help the dwindling insect population. We spent a lot of time on the local beaches which are a short drive (or bike ride) away.

Disliked: There were no hooks in the toilet cubicles to hang my bags from.

Local attractions

The beaches of Mont Saint-Michel Bay are about 10 minutes’ drive away, with kilometres of splendid sand to choose from on the stretch between Granville and Regnéville-sur-Mer. If you fancy getting out on to the water, head into Granville (15 minutes from the site) for lessons and boat hire from the sailing school. If you’ve got kids in tow, a recommended day out is Champrepus Zoo, 25 minutes away, where you can see animals from all over the globe including tigers, penguins and lemurs. Should the weather take a wrong turn, head instead for Raptor Park, one of France’s largest indoor theme parks, within 15 minutes. The big boy around these parts is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mont Saint-Michel, about an hour's drive away. Cross the causeway to walk around the famed medieval ramparts and abbey; if you’re there towards the evening have a look out for the sound and light shows that run in the summer months.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
