  • Fishing holidays in Burgundy, in the grounds of a French château
  • Indoor and outdoor pool, mini golf, TV room and free wifi
  • Restaurant with takeaway and terrace
Get jiggy at Camping Château de Chigy, a Burgundy site with hiking and biking trails just minutes away, and filled with things to make your holiday bounce along nicely – you could start off at the two fab fishing lakes set in a valley and crammed with whopping big carp, pike, roach and black bass? All are here: just bring your rod and get stuck in. Among the many other options at this highly scenic site are days bathing/basking in/around the big outdoor pool and solarium (an indoor pool is on site too if the weather turns a little poor), lounging around the living room to investigate a spot of French TV, picking up some pétanque practice at the site court, playing mini golf or happily plotting where next to go in Burgundy with the help of the free wifi in the communal areas. An entertainment programme runs in high season. For eats, Camping Château de Chigy has a seasonal restaurant serving tasty regional food to take on the terrace or to take away – one must remember also to visit for an apero first... And then there's the Camping Château de Chigy locale. Le clue is in le name, for it's among the grounds of a scenic castle and in quite the lush landscape you'd expect of a French château... The park is five kilometres from its nearest village of Luzy, where you'll find cafés, restaurants, a supermarket and other shops.

Local attractions

Château de Chigy is in first-rate locale to use as a base to explore Burgundy, whether you want to stick close to site among the hiking and cycling trails accessible just minutes away, or see as much of the region's history, culture, villages and vineyards as is humanly poss on one single trip. (You could always come back at least a few times.) If you're a history fan, the de Chigy team highly recommends Bibracte, the Gaulish fortified city and hill fort involved in skirmishes with Caesar in the Gallic Wars and now an archaeological site and museum, as well as Mont-Beuvray and the Temple of a Thousand Buddhas in La Boulaye. More into active opps? Divert yourself from horrid thoughts of going homewards with a day at DivertiParc in Toulon-sur-Arroux, or among the wild ones at the splendid Le Pal wildlife theme park in Dompierre-sur-Besbre: water rides, rollercoasters and live entertainment are all at this latter too.
