Camping Les Pêcheurs is a peaceful site set in the middle of a Natura 2000 zone on the banks of the Doubs river and its sandy beach, where guests can sunbathe or go swimming, fishing, boating and canoeing, in Lays-sur-le-Doubs in Burgundy, near Dole, Chalon-sur-Saône, Beaune and Dijon. The park lies among an area that's home to more than 160 species of bird including the European bee-eater and there are heaps of good walking and cycling trails surround the site. Facilities include a heated pool, a terrace pizzeria restaurant that also serves pastas, salads, hamburgers and daily specials, a playground and a pétanque pitch. Evening entertainment consists of live music and karaoke. Barbecues are allowed. Friendly dogs are welcome throughout the year.

Local attractions

You're a short drive from the town of Pierre-de-Bresse, where there's the Bresse Burgundy Eco-museum; other towns within easy reach include Dole and Chateau-Chalon, both around 30 kilometres from Pierre-de-Bresse. Visit the historic town of Chalon-sur-Saône (40km) and its museum of photography, St. Vincent's Cathedral and Place Saint-Vincent, a city square that's lined by cafés and a busy market on Fridays and Sundays. There's also an 18-hole golf course and Roseraie Saint-Nicolas, a rose garden filled with 26,000 roses of 600 different species. Go on bike and 4x4 tours around Côte de Beaune, taking in Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Montrachet or around Côte de Nuits through Aloxe-Corton, Nuits-St-Georges and Vougeot. Around 60 kilometres from the site you've got Acro'Mania, a tree-climbing park in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur.
