  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Moncontour and the Loudéac forest
  • Tennis court on site; horse riding, fishing and kayaking nearby
Your pretty, green and peaceful Brittany countryside base awaits… And your spectacular Brittany seaside days: Pinàbre Camping and Caravan Site is near Plouguenast on Brittany's Côtes d'Armor, about 40 minutes' drive from the coastline and swathes of splendid sand. Pinàbre is a quiet family site, set around an old Breton farmhouse in a rural location. Plouguenast is a couple of kilometres away for shops, restaurants and bike and canoe/kayak hire; the medieval town (and famed seafood) of Moncontour is 10 minutes' drive from the site, and lush Loudéac forest, with its 50 kilometres of hiking and biking trails, is within 15. The site has a tennis court and plenty of space to kick a ball around or wander around to find your fave picnic spot. Barbecues are allowed. If you're planning a trip here towards the end of August, make sure you catch the huge annual horse festival in the neighbouring town of Loudéac, which sees a procession of over 200 horses, carriages and brass bands trotting and marching through the town's cobbled streets.

Local attractions

Loudéac forest, 11 kilometres away, is made up of 2,500 hectares of protected woodland stuffed with spots for outdoor activities such as fishing, cycling and horse riding and around 50 kilometres of marked walking trails: these should provide plenty more places for picnics… You must also make a stop in Moncontour, the spectacularly scenic hilltop medieval town surrounded by its 13th and 14th-century ramparts. Wander along its teeny side streets among the half-timbered houses and registered Historic Monuments including the Church of St. Maturinus and its 16th-century stained glass windows; after all that, find one of the town's famed seafood restaurants to gorge on oysters or crayfish. Going coastwards, it's 40 minutes' drive from the site to Brittany sea and sands at Saint Brieuc – and more seafood; the town's well known for its plump and juicy scallops. You can access the GR 34 or custom path from Saint Brieuc too: hiking at least a bit of its 1,800-kilometre route around Brittany's coast is something of a must if you're anywhere around the region.
