  • 400 metres from the beach in Bénodet
  • Pools, Jacuzzis, waterslides and paddling pool
  • Sports area, ping pong tables and outdoor fitness trail
Camping near the beach? Oui, merci. Camping de la Plage is in Brittany's seaside resort of Bénodet, about 400 metres from the sands and 800 metres from Bénodet town centre. And it's in the Finistere region – with over 1000km of coastline, beaches and coves, the Iles Glénan, Sein, Ouessant, Molène, Batz, medieval fortifications, lighthouses, mansions, castles, chapels and a whole pile more to dive into on hol. On site, Camping de la Plage has an indoor pool complex (open from April to September) with a large heated pool and two Jacuzzis, and an outdoor pool complex (open from mid-June to mid-September) with two pools, waterslides and a paddling pool. Don't forget your Speedos or swimming trunks, chaps – board shorts, swimming shorts etc aren't allowed in French pools. Other facilities on site include a sports area, ping pong tables and an outdoor fitness trail. In high season (July and August), there's also a fitness centre, a bar and takeaway service, regular evening entertainment (three times a week) including dance parties, theme nights and karaoke, and a kids;' club from Monday to Friday for ages four to 11. Shops and a supermarket are within a kilometre of the site.

Local attractions

Bike hire is available a kilometre from Camping de la Plage, so hire a couple of wheels and pedal off into the countryside to explore. Watersports, hiking, mountain biking, a spa, golf and mini golf, tennis, a cinema and a casino are all within easy reach. The medieval city of Quimper is probably the most traditional region in Brittany and is also reachable from the site; you can also easily get to well-known Bretagne highlights like Concarneau; the French equivalent of Land's End Pointe du Raz; the port village of Pont-Aven; the Odet River, the medieval town of Locronan and la Pointe St-Gilles. Les Iles Glénan or the Glénans are an archipelago of islands about 10 miles off Finistere's south coast and are highly popular for day trips; daily ferries run from Bénodet in season.
