General
- Among the forest, beach and countryside of Carnac
- Pool, waterslides and Jacuzzi
- Pétanque court, miniature golf, playground and ping pong
Did you know, archaeology aficionados, that ancient Carnac in ancient Brittany is the oldest prehistoric site in all the world, with a whopping great number of over 3,000 standing stones? Dig into their history and all the rest of this old and trad region with a stay at Moulin de Kermaux, under the bright Breton sun and among the forest, countryside and old sites of Carnac.
Long stretches of beach and long pampering days can be dug into here too, as de Kermaux is a couple of kilometres from the seaside resort and golden sands of La Trinité-sur-Mer, and a few from Carnac with its beach, museum and swish thalassotherapy centre.
For when you're lazing around on site, Moulin de Kermaux has a pool and waterslides for long splashes and idle days, alongside a Jacuzzi to sink into and more active options via miniature golf and ping pong. A playground, kids' clubs and teen clubs are on hand for the offspring in high season and pétanque tournaments for the grownups are held in summer.
Local produce, fresh bread, newspapers and grocery essentials are available in the small site shop.

Local attractions
To the sands and to the stones: the nearby town of Carnac is home to a two-kilometre beach that's just the ticket for families as it's lifeguarded and has two kids' clubs in summer; it's also the base of the Carnac Museum of Prehistory, telling the tale of this ancient area.
Once you've armed yourself with reams of knowledge at the museum, set out to investigate the standing stones of the area, numbering about 3,000 made up of the Ménec, Kermario and Kerlescan sets. Several dolmens and the tumulus of Saint-Michel, the biggest megalithic grave mound in continental Europe, are among the area's other old sites.
The traditional cuisine of the area should also be thoroughly investigated: oyster farming has been one of Carnac's main industries since the nineteenth century and is still going strong today. Buy oysters at the local markets or from the Carnac oyster farmers to prep them for yourself, or let them be served straight to you at one of the many bars and restaurants in town.
Back on the Breton beaches, Légenèse and Ty Bihan are smaller and usually less busy seaside resorts, while Saint-Colomban is a top spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
