If you're in a bit of a dither about where and what to see and do first on the comely isle of Corsica, have a natter with the Camping Aria Marina team. For the helpful lot at this Upper Corsica campsite knows its islandy stuff – and books activities for guests along the lines of canoeing, scuba diving, boating, Cap Corse and Domaine Pieretti vineyard explores… all with transport available right from the site. Camping Aria Marina is near the commune of Méria, about 30 kilometres from the port town of Bastia (that's accessible via a scenic seaside route), and has direct access to a pebble beach reachable without crossing any roads. Several sandy beaches are available nearby. The site has a pool, a playground, a pétanque court, a food shop and free wifi; amenities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area, a launderette and disabled facilities.

Local attractions

Several sandy beaches are close to Camping Aria Marina, which along with the campsite excursions should see most tastes sorted for at least the first week or so... After that, investigate as much as possible of the rest of Upper Corsica, such as the Genoese Seneca's Tower, one of the Official Historical Monuments of France; the Moulin Mattei windmill; the fishing port of Centuri, and Sant'Antonino, one of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Bastia 30 kilometres away is the main port on the island, between sea and mountain at the base of Cap Corse. It has a couple of dozen buildings and sites listed as historical monuments: recommended among them to see are the fourteenth century Governor's Citadel and Palace; the seventeenth century Maison Castagnola and Maison de Caraffa, and several gardens including those at the Old Town Hall and the Villayet Saint-Dominique.
