  • On the border between Corrèze and Lot
  • Snack/bar, grocery shop and free wifi
Sunbathing on the banks of the River Dordogne… now there's an envy-inducing social media post... Cause all back home to covet your lazy and peaceful French riverside holiday with a leisurely sojourn at the Dordogne Valley's Camping Magali Plage, in a remote wildlife haven by the Dordogne river and between the lush departments of Corrèze and Lot in the tiny village of Liourdres. (Many photos: optional but very much recommended.) You'll be able to spark yet more yearning with snaps of three spectacular Les Plus Beaux Villages de France – Autoire, Carennac and Loubressac are all nearby – or perhaps get the other half to click a pic of you canoeing or kayaking gleefully down the river? Fishing and horse riding are around in the area for covetworthy photos too. Magali Plage is a peaceful and welcoming place, as you'll see if you drift along alone or with friends to the Snack du Port for coffee, drinks or ice cream… staying for a meal is very much recommended too. Other services and facilities include a playground, a grocery shop and free wifi. Amenities are covered at the two toilet blocks with free hot water, and the laundry area with washing machine, ironing board and iron.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Friendly staff. Small site. Little English. Lovely peaceful site for two or three nights. Walks by the river Dordogne. Canoeing up or down the river very prominent. Drinks and snacks reasonably priced. New shower block excellent with constant flow of water in the shower. Great cheap price with electric. Pitch level and spacious.

Disliked: Nothing.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: We asked for a shady spot and didn’t need electric, so were given the whole area under the trees next to the river and snack bar, away from the main campsite! It was idyllic. It’s a relaxed/laid back site, maybe a bit shabby chic - the snack bar is like a pop up under the trees. Showers and toilets are kept super clean, big shower cubicles plentiful hot water, and the shower stays on rather than a button that you have to press every 20 seconds!

Local attractions

Drift lazily along the Dordogne in a canoe/kayak or dream peacefully on its banks, before days out getting to grips with the many activities and attraction of the departments of Corrèze and Lot. The Camping Magali Plage team has much to recommend around here, such as the utterly fab old village of Rocamadour, clinging cliffside above the Alzou river: walk around its ancient ramparts for spectacular views of the preserved village down below, and from there scramble down the shady hillside to the religious centre with seven sanctuaries via the Rocamadour Chemin de Croix. A 15-minute drive from Rocamadour, the cave system of the Gouffre de Padirac is another utterly fab attraction that's one of the most popular not just in the region but in all of France; it's quite rightly the most visited cave in France, so do check it out to see why. Bison, wolves, bears and deer are among the thousand or so creatures living at the Animal Park of Gramat, also accessible from Magali Plage within easy distance by car.
