  • Air-conditioned cottages in an oak grove in the Lot valley
  • Gym, sauna, massages, hammam and beach volleyball court
  • Less than 10 kilometres from Rocamadour and the Gouffre de Padirac
Scenic lodge stays on the edge of an oak grove in the Lot, with frequent forays to the on-site sauna or to the lounge with library and fireplace – sound tiptop? Make Résidence Les Ségalières your Lot valley home for as long as is humanly poss: there's so much to do on and around site that you'll need to be settled here for some time. Based in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, Les Ségalières is near Gramat and is less than 10 kilometres from one of the most visited attractions in France, the ancient pilgrimage town of Rocamadour. The Gouffre de Padirac, the vast cave system with underground lakes that's the most visited cave system in the whole of France, is also under 10 kilometres from here. But do stay on site for a bit before rushing off to explore... to spend hours in the wellness centre with gym and sauna, have a further watery time at the pool, or rouse yourself to manageable levels of activity trying out beach volleyball, pétanque and table tennis. Kids have their own paddling pool to splash around in, a well-equipped playground, and a club running on summer weekdays, and for all ages there's a cosy lounge with library and guidebooks: use these plus the site's free wifi to narrow down your must-see list from the many attractions and destinations available nearby.

Local attractions

If you're after an active hol, you can easily sort horse riding, hiking and climbing in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, or just take a hike on the trails from the site. Canoeing and fishing on the Dordogne are also available nearby. Medieval Gramat is about three kilometres from the site, with plenty of shops and restaurants among its Middle Ages buildings, 16th-century clocktower and shaded convent garden. It's also the site of the 40-hectare Parc Animalier of Gramat or Gramat animal park, home to over 1000 European animals and birds such as wolves and vultures, bison, bears and deer. Less than 10 kilometres from Gramat is spectacular Rocamadour, built on the edge of a cliff above the Alzou river. It's been a vital French tourist destination since its first church was built in the 12th century and these days sees over a million visitors a year. The huge caverns, river, lake, stalactites and stalagmites of the Gouffre de Padirac, the most visited attraction in the Midi-Pyrenees, are a 15-minute drive from Rocamadour: descend over 100 metres to take a boat trip among the lot.
