Local attractions

Camping Altipik is a few kilometres from the alpine town and ski resort of Mont-Saxonnex, in the foothills of the Bargy massif. Skiing is the top pastime here, but there's room year round for mountain hikes and mountain biking, via ferrata climbing and guided walks to explore the mountains or go foraging: bag details of all at the town tourist office. A petting zoo is in town for gentler hours. The deep blue waters of Lac Bénit, also at the foot of the Bargy massif, are where to make for if you seek a more serene time during your stay, as this is a highly peaceful place. It has two scenic walks that shouldn't prove too troublesome even for the small of legged: take the kilometre and a half Morsulaz trail, which slopes somewhat, or the 2.2 kilometre Bété trail, a bit longer but along less of a slant. For day trips, drive 55 minutes or so to Chamonix to take the spectacular cable car ride almost 4,000 metres up to the Aiguille de Midi, at the start of the High Alps. Cologny, Lake Geneva and Switzerland are within the same distance.
