  • Family site among nine hectares of woodland near Divonne-les-Bains
  • Shaded or sunny pitches, some with views of the lake and Mont Blanc
  • Pool, free internet point, cosy lodge and terrace café-restaurant
The views – they are spectacular. As is the setting: magnifique and rightly popular Indigo Camping Divonne is among nine green and wooded hectares near the spa town Divonne-les-Bains, close to Lake Geneva and with jaw-dropping vistas over mighty Mont Blanc. It's a splendid region too for placid or more active pursuits as you fancy, as the site is close to the thermal baths of spa town Divonne-les-Bains and on the border between the Rhône-Alpes and Switzerland. The Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park, for mountain clambers, peaky hikes and stalking about on wildlife watching days, is within a short drive. Upon arrival, stake out the site to pick your own pitch. You might dither somewhat with your decision, as there's a pick of well-shaded spots in the woodland or sunnier pitches near the site entrance – both types spacious and scenic. Some pitches have views over the lake and Mont Blanc if your heart's desire can lead you to one of those. After that, embark on a wander to see what's on offer at this beaut and peaceful site, starting off at the friendly reception area to pick up info on all you need for your stay or to use the free internet point. Then hire a bike to venture off around the grounds and see where your most favoured and peaceful spots will be during your hol (hint: there will be many to pick from). If your bike ride has left you rather hot and sticky, plunge into the pool to cool off, then take your thirsty self for a coffee at the cosy central lodge, open all season for drinks, board game sessions or dipping your nose into a book from the library. There's also a café-restaurant where you can sup a drink on the terrace, check your emails using the free wifi, and have a salad, homemade pizza or grill. And then… time to explore this beaut region. Order bread and croissants when you arrive to munch upon the next morn, accompanied by regional products like jam, honey and fruit juice from the small site store. Then, suitably fortified, sally forth into the mountains or around the lakes, for a strenuous day of climbing, hiking, boating, swimming, châteaux hunting or submerging your serene self into a spa bath…

Local attractions

This is an utterly fab locale, between the foothills of the Jura mountains and Lake Geneva, close to the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park and Mont Blanc, and within easy reach of Geneva, Nyon and Lausanne across the Swiss border. Your local urban settlement is the Pays de Gex thermal town of Divonne-les-Bains, famed in the region for its thermal springs set against its beaut views over Mont Blanc. A spa or wellness session (or both, but of course) are practically mandatory when in these parts; ask at the Camping Divonne reception for their tips on where to take your pampering-seeking self. Active options await for after your spa session – or possibly it might be sensible to partake of them before. Among your Divonne-les-Bains picks are a big open-air pool for public use, a golf course, tennis courts, football pitches and a three and a half kilometre path around Divonne lake for walkers and cyclists. You can also swim in the lake or slightly further afield in Lake Geneva, hike up Mont Mussy and Mont Mourex just outside town, or, if you're now about to shriek Non to yet more action, try your luck in the Divonne-les-Bains casino or have a leisurely meal in one of the restaurants. Over the Swiss border, Geneva, Nyon and Lausanne are all easily reachable for day trips, as is Voltaire's château in Ferney-Voltaire 17 kilometres away, open to the curious between April and October.
