Got your flip-flops and your sunblock? Then you’re pretty much ready to go for a stay at Campeggio Naturista Pizzo Greco, a wooded site a short stroll from the beach and five kilometres from Isola di Capo Rizzuto on the southern coast of Calabria. A bumper crop of facilities on site means pretty much everything you need for a relaxing clothes-free hol is on hand, allowing you to spend as much time as poss au naturel. Sportive types can play games of football, basketball, volleyball or pétanque, or roam around the site’s own network of paths on foot or by bike, perhaps down to the nearby nudist beach for sunbathing and skinny dipping. More of the opinion that hols are for a well-earned chance to flop down and do not very much? No problem: there are plenty of places in which the activity-averse can kick back and relax, and a kids' club runs in high season to keep the offspring occupied. Evenings on site are a social whirl of dancing, live music, games and other events, plus food and drinks of course (this is Italy after all). The site has its own bar and beach bar, as well as a restaurant next to the cleverly positioned adjacent playground. Those who prefer to chef for themselves can pick up ingredients from the mini market and light up a barbie to grill their goodies on.

Local attractions

Although ultra-minimal packing sounds tempting, perhaps you’d do well to bring a few bits and bobs with you as there’s much to explore locally. Hire bikes to pedal off to some the gorgeous beaches that line this stretch of coast, or head to nearby watersports centres for sailing, scuba diving and boat trips. There are also some lovely coastal hikes to be had, and the Sila National Park is a little over an hour’s drive away for something more mountainous. Seafront castles and forts are something of a speciality around here, so make time to get down onto the Capo Rizzuto peninsula to see the Torre Nuova (15 minutes’ drive) or Le Castella (25 minutes away). If history’s your thing, don’t miss a trip to Crotone, half an hour away, to see the Greek ruins, visit the castle and churches and wander round the archaeological museum. The waterfront and historic centre are both fab places for strolling around, with plenty of stops for cappuccino and gelato as you go. There’s also a windsurfing and paddleboarding centre here for those who’d prefer a day out on the waves.

Liked: Ik heb erg van de rust genoten en ik vond het fijn dat er een mooi privé strand was.

Disliked: Ik vind de faciliteiten ondermaats. De toiletten en douches waren kapot, oud en vies.
