  • Family-friendly site within easy reach of Rome
  • Well placed for Tivoli, Calcata, Bomarzo and Lake Bracciano
  • Restaurant, pizzeria, two bars and family and lagoon pools
Have you ever pondered taking the kids to Rome – but baulked at city hotel prices? Laugh in the face of overcrowded and overpriced tourist accommodation via a stay within easy reach of the city at lively, friendly and activity-laden I Pini Family Park. It's only about 40 minutes' drive to Rome from here so you can earnestly instruct the kids in republic and empire history, ancient architecture, the Vatican and What Caligula Did Next – and you and your little emperors will also be within invading distance of top Italian destinations like Tivoli, Olbia and Lake Bracciano. A talented entertainment team can keep ages four to 10 busy with art, crafts and games in Italian, English, German or Dutch, while you laze back and soak up the excellent facilities of this scenic parkland setting. A lagoon pool, waterslides, Jacuzzi, and sun loungers aplenty in a spacious solarium all await your idle self too. Tennis is around for after that, or you could join in at one of the regular activities such as aqua gym and sports tournaments, or play pool or ping pong in the games room. (Or, indeed, sink an aperitif in one of the two handsome site bars...) Away from the kids' club, your offspring have two playgrounds to let loose at, and a separate family/ paddling pool with castle, waterslide and fountains. And then? Join up in the evening for carbonara at the restaurant, or dig into the menu at the pizzeria. And then? Have a boogie or a warble at the nightly entertainment shows and karaoke: perhaps with a rendition of When in Rome..?

Local attractions

Beloved by sightseers, historians, architecture geeks and general toga types, splendid Rome will likely be your first stop when staying in this fine and green part of Italy. The Coliseum (of course), Michelangelo at the Vatican Museum (also of course) and the Piazza di Spagna (you can see where this is going) are all must-sees. Once the kids become frazzled and are rather vocal about being so, retreat to one of Rome's many splendid parks for a breather: the capital has one of the biggest areas of green space in Europe, so you're sure to find somewhere to calm tetchy moods. Also to suit smalls in the area is the Parco dei Mostri or Park of Monsters, 45 minutes away at Bomarzo, where your beasties can clamber over ogres, dragons and other stony critters carved into the park's rocks.
