  • Mountain setting with direct access to the Borno ski resort
  • An hour and a half from Brescia and Bergamo
  • Restaurant serving traditional recipes from the mountains
How are these for views? Simply stunning, that's how. Take in these splendid Alps vistas in at any time of year from the mountain setting of Camping Village Boscoblù, in a pretty Lombardy pine grove at an altitude of 1,000 metres: spectacular scenery comes as standard. This is one of those sites where, whichever season you arrive in, you’ll need to book another stay six or so months hence: there’s direct access to the Borno Monte Altissimo ski resort for strapping on your skis and sallying forth in winter, while outdoor activities of all flavours are yours for the taking in other months of the year. Saddle up on bike or horse, dust off your hiking boots, get ready for rock climbing or possibly consider paragliding around the 90 kilometres of the surrounding Val Camonica, home too to medieval mountain villages, a clutch of castles, Roman ruins and the UNESCO-listed Valcamonica rock carvings, the biggest collections of prehistoric petroglyphs on the planet. For city days, Brescia and Bergamo are both within an hour and a half’s drive. As these are mountain settings, it makes jolly good sense to have mountain nosh too. Tuck into recipes from the region as well as traditional Italian pizza at the Camping Village Boscoblù restaurant, open in all seasons, then take your sated self to the bar for a boozy beverage to send you off to sleep. There’s a shop on site too for groceries and supplies. Other handy facilities include a playground and a TV room, a pétanque court, and a fitness centre, just in case you don’t tire out your muscles quite enough with your days of skiing, hiking, climbing, sightseeing…

Local attractions

Camping Village Boscoblù is in the Camonica valley surrounded by the peaks of Pizzo Camino, Presolana and Adamello. This is a spectacular setting for hiking, cycling, heritage hunting, wildlife watching as well as skiing and other sports. The site has direct access to the Borno ski pistes and to several mountain walking trails. Val Camonica is also well known for its archaeological sites dating back to Roman times, its medieval castles and palaces, and the world-famed rock carvings making up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are at least 200,000 carvings all around the valley, including 140,000 officially recognised by UNESCO: Darfo Boario Terme, Capo di Ponte, Nadro, Cimbergo and Paspardo are the most prolific spots. Darfo Boario, 30 minutes’ drive away, is home to the open air museum of Archaeopark Darfo Boario Terme. Festivals and events aplenty are held in the nearby villages during the summer, including the Malegno-Borno car rally, trout fishing tournaments in Lake Lova, concerts, dance festivals and food fairs. Further afield, Brescia and Bergamo are an hour and 20 and a hour and 30 minutes’ drive respectively, and Lake Garda and Lake Iseo are within a couple of hours.
