Like the sound of spending your next hol among a huge natural adventure playground? Then you'll surely like this site, right in the middle of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Abseiling and climbing expeditions can be embarked upon on site, and there’s a tiptop tree-climbing space there too; lots of nature and hiking trails are around the woods and beyond, and you can sign up to outdoorsy pursuits aplenty from reception, from rafting to canoeing, canyoning and cycling. (And with all this high-energy outdoor stuff on the menu, it’s just as well the site offers yoga classes too.) Your friendly and helpful hosts will be able to supply you with their expert local knowledge, such as on the hiking and biking routes galore that lie around the national park, with more up in the Serra do Peneda mountains (the Gerês-Xurés Biosphere Reserve is within easy day trip distance too, should you fancy a 20-or-so kilometre tour). Rent a bike on site to pedal your way out into your lush locale, via the surrounding woodland’s cycle paths. After long days spent getting stuck into all that’s available in your scenic surrounds, long lie ins are most certainly an option here too: as the site is set among a dense and pretty pine and beech woodland, pitches are provided most pleasantly with lots of cooling shade. After that, sizzle up your own fodder at the communal barbecue area, or if you can't be faffed even with that, a snack bar is to hand for foodie bits too.

Hiking and biking trails are plentiful around here, and many more around the Serra do Peneda mountains if you fancy the pedal up there. On site, talk to the team about the excursions available in the local area; while climbing, abseiling and tree climbing are available at dedicated spaces around your rural woodland base, many more outdoorsy days can be spent around it, with rafting, canoeing, canyoning, cycling and other sorts of excursions bookable at reception. Should wildlife watching be more your sort of nature-based pursuit, the border of the Gerês-Xurés Biosphere Reserve is a short drive away. This diverse UNESCO-listed reserve is home to many a wild critter, from lobo, deer and martens to snakes, bats and almost 150 bird species, so be sure to bring your binoculars to spot the likes of golden eagles, choughs, eagle owls and honey buzzards.
