  • Scenic setting near La Carlota, under 30 kilometres from Córdoba
  • Pool, paddling pool, playground, mini farm and miniature golf
  • Bar-restaurant with café, lounge and two terraces
A friendly environment, scenic setting and mini farm for the kids are what's on offer at comfy and modern Camping Carlos III in Andalusia, under 30 kilometres from Córdoba and an hour's drive from Seville. It's a kilometre from the town of La Carlota, named after Carlos III (the king, not the site…) and a handy place for shops and restaurants. There are lots of cute creatures to meet at the mini farm, and kids' activities run throughout high season. Also around to keep all out of mischief are a miniature golf course, tennis, pétanque and padel courts, a large fenced playground and a pool and paddling pool (both open from June to September) with a spacious terrace alongside. The bar-restaurant has a café, a lounge and two terraces, one of which overlooks the pool. It serves local food and barbecued meats from a la carte and menus of the day. A mini supermarket is also on site.

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Facilities were clean and warm with hot water. Showers had hooks for clothes and a seat. Laundry was good.

Disliked: It's February, so alot of things not open and we felt the price was high. I think they should reduce the cost in Winter. Site a bit drab. Had to drive into Cordoba.

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Good size pitch. Quiet surroundings with friendly staff.

Disliked: It was a very adequate location for a nights stay but everything was a little tired and needs some renovation, including toilet/shower facilities and kids play facilities. When we stayed, one of the two toilet blocks was shut.

Electric gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Pitches were large. Electric hook up and fresh water very close. Site kept clean and tidy. Swimming pool area very good and all kept clean. Bar right by the pool which was handy with well-priced drinks. Staff very friendly. Bus stop outside site to go to Cordoba - very convenient. People mostly respected the quiet time each night ( apart from a group of Italians!)

Disliked: Supermarket was pretty useless- hardly any stock even in high season. Restaurant food was plentiful but seemed to be rather microwaved and served. Service was not with a smile and the girl serving looked like she really didn’t want to be there! The Wi-Fi didn’t stretch down as far as our pitch which was very inconvenient.

Local attractions

In the south west of the Córdoba province, the municipality of La Carlota is recognised for its cultural highlights by the Junta de Andalucia and is stuffed with old monuments, as well as archaeological sites from the Palaeolithic to the Bronze Age. Take the camera around town to the Real Posada y Fonda, the Casas de Colonos or settlers' homes, the Government's Subdelegate Palace and the Church of Purísima Concepción, and then to the market square at Plaza del Mercado de Abastos to try the local dishes. Córdoba, 28 kilometres from Camping Carlos III, should be a definite destination for its ancient sites; it was once a Roman base, then is thought to have been the most populous city in the world around the eighth century under its Moorish rule.
