  • Peaceful site surrounded by the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit mountains
  • Via ferrata, caves, paintballing and 4x4 excursions a short drive away
  • Outdoor pool, barbecue area, multisports pitch, bar and restaurant
It's only a 10-minute amble or a drive of a few minutes to town from Camping La Font in Aragon's Teruel province... but you'll feel fably remote at this peaceful place. La Font is under a kilometre from the small town of Fuentespalda, on the limestone slopes of the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit mountain range and in Aragon's La Matarraña region. The area is famed for its olive groves, ancient trees and old villages: this part of the country is so historic and handsome it's been nicknamed Spanish Tuscany (so yes, bring a camera). You can get straight out into the countryside by foot, bike or horseback from the site, and access loads more outdoor activities nearby such as via ferrata climbs, caving, 4x4 excursions and swimming in natural pools. If you're on a fully free Spanish holiday and able to tour around after your Aragon stay, both Barcelona and Valencia are about two and a half hours from here. Eats and drinks are easily sorted on site: there's a barbecue area with several large communal grills if you're eating alfresco or getting the other half to cater for your deserving self, and a restaurant serving tapas, snacks, drinks and hot meals throughout the day. The restaurant is linked to the site bar, which has table football for you to hone your skills, and satellite TV for sporting tournaments to see how the professionals flick a ball about. For your leisurely pleasure, La Font comes with an outdoor pool, a separate paddling pool and a multisports pitch for you to (attempt to) hone your skills once more. Amenities include hot showers and eight toilets, two of which are accessible to disabled guests.

Local attractions

In Fuentespalda, right next to Camping La Font, there's a medieval cemetery, a prison tower and La Picosa mountain, which you can take a walk up through forests for spectacular views over to the Ports de Tortosa-Beseit mountains and the region of Matarraya. Three kilometres outside Fuentespalda is the water cave of Fuentespalda – a karst cave with stalactites and other rock formations. Two via ferrata routes are close by. Around 10 or so minutes away by car there's the castle and Old Town in Valderrobres, which lies alongside the Matarranya river. Prepare to spend some time if you're heading in this direction, as paintballing, 4x4 excursions and cycling trails are all near the town, as well as the fab vulture observatory of Mas de Bunyol, 15 minutes' drive from La Font between Beceite and Valderrobres. For cascades and wild swims, the 20-metre waterfall and natural pool of El Salt is at La Portellada, 25 minutes away.
