Village rambles or city days out? Such tough decisions shouldn't be made while on holiday, and so one should stay somewhere one can do both. And so – Camping Riaza, a mere hour from Madrid but in an area with Castilian villages dotted around and with easy access to forests, mountains and rivers. When not roaming around the Spanish outdoors or the streets of Madrid, settle down among the well-kept facilities on site, including a games room, playground, sports court and tennis courts; there's also a business centre (if you really must) and a café/restaurant for sampling local grilled meat and roasts. Forgotten something? The mini market is well stocked with essential items. The Camping Riaza amenities blocks have hot showers, disabled facilities, laundry corners and a baby bathtub.

Liked: Large site, nice that big out he’s, facilities looked good, but all closed presumably due to time of year. We were only ones on the site. Booked in a rush for something near Segovia!!…. That’s what came up

Disliked: Too far from Segovia for us, but not the sites fault, only ours for not reading properly!! Had booked 2 nights only stayed one. The local town was like a host town, all houses and shops were closed and shuttered, like no one lived there!

Liked: The friendliest welcome from the gentleman in the office. So helpful and a joy after a long journey. In a good location for travelling up to Santander and nearby towns and villages are great to visit. Very clean facilities and a lovely little restaurant on site.

Disliked: Not a dislike as such, more of a struggle in that the roads on site are narrow and the pitches quite small and awkward to get onto with a twin axle caravan. However it was quiet when we visited and the team found a solution for us which we are very grateful for.

Disliked: You had to go up the curb to park your caravan .not good on the tyres wouldn't stay again

Local attractions

Camping Riaza is set northeast of Segovia at the border of Soria and Burgos, and at the entrance of the small Castilian medieval town of Riaza, known for its food, art and architecture. Also nearby, take a day to trek around the viewsome town of Sepúlveda, its medieval buildings and its three Romanesque churches, before rounding it all off with dishes of roasted cordero and cochinillo in the local restaurants. The Duratón River and Duratón River Canyons National Park must (must must) not be missed for their spectacular gorges, cliffs and caves. If you're feeling active, get out on the nearby water for a spot of canoeing or kayaking. Fishing is available locally too.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are required to wear a muzzle.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

General

Quiet hours must be respected between 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
