General
- In Ripollès in the Catalan cordillera
- Surrounded by mountains, 4x4 and motorbike trails
- Pool, play area and bar-restaurant
If you've never been to/heard of the Catalan cordillera, we can knowledgeably inform you here that it's the Catalan Mediterranean System. And that it's made up of coastal mountain chains (the Catalan Coastal Range and the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range, if you're int), coastal plains and deep valleys slashed into the landscape.
And that a rather spesh part of the Catalan cordillera is in Ripollès, which is where Spanish coast and peak seekers will find Camping Vall de Camprodon. It's in an area surrounded by mountains and so just the ticket for types who like hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing and the many 4x4 and motorbike trails all around – and it's also in a good spot for day trips to Gerona, about 100km away, and Barcelona at 133.
The site has a bar-restaurant with daily menus and tasty pizzas, free wifi, an outdoor pool, a launderette and a play area.

Local attractions
Hike, bike and horse ride around the Catalan Pyrénées separating France and Spain, or go coastal in Catalonia and do more of the same around the Catalan cordillera.
Its lonely valleys such as Arán, Ripagorce, Pallars, Alt Urgel, Ripollès, Garrotxa and Ampurdan are a must (yep, all of them), and you'll find many a traditional village along the way dishing up trad Catalonian cuisine.
The Camping Vall De Camprodon team has Beget Church down as a must too: it's a Romanesque church built between the tenth and twelfth century and is famed among architectural enthusiasts for its semi-circular apse decorated with Lombardy blind arches, and by arty sorts for its Christ in Majesty sculpture.
We also recommend crossing the Pont Nou, the humpback bridge built in 1196 over the Ter river, and snowboarding, skiing and other mountainy activities at the famed Vallter2000 ski station, just 20 minutes' drive away.
