Over 35 years' holiday and customer service experience awaits at Camping Pico De La Miel in the Community of Madrid, a family-friendly site less than a kilometre from its nearest motorway for easy access to day tripping in the Spanish capital. And after Madrid? Segovia, Sepulveda, El Escorial and Alcalá de Henares are all within an hour's drive. The modern facilities on site include a games room, a large playground and a seasonal pool and toddlers' pool surrounded by a sun terrace. Meals and takeaways are covered at the café-restaurant serving tapas and popular traditional dishes alongside international food, and a well-stocked shop is also on site for those who'd rather dish up their own dinner. Feeling a tad lardy? Burn off the tapas at the pétanque area, padel court and football pitch. Amenities are also well covered, and include a washing-up area with free hot water, and three facilities blocks with free hot showers, disabled facilities, laundry and drying rooms.

Little villages, small towns and striking natural landscapes are all easily reached from Camping Pico De La Miel: just for starters you could wander around the peaks and lagoons of Guadarrama National Park, the ponds of the Lozoya Valley (4x4 trips are popular here too) or have a holly forest hike around the municipality of Robregordo… If you've brought your bike, pedal off to the small local villages of La Hiruela, Puebla de la Sierra and Horcajuelo de la Sierra or to the towns of Buitrago and Rascafria, and the fourteenth-century church, old walls and ancient marketplace of Torrelaguna. Segovia, Sepulveda, El Escorial or Alcalá de Henares are all under an hour's drive away.
