Those pools. If you're pondering a Benidorm holiday and pondering Camping Villamar, take a leisurely look at those pool pics... then ponder how to plot a holiday here for a few weeks at least. Natch you'll be spending quite a bit of time partying in Benidorm if you're staying in such nifty proximity to it (spectacular Levante beach is 10 minutes by car), but... those pools. Slice out quite a few days on site as well for idle or active days around and in the water: there are waterslides and waterfalls to plunge down or idle under, and roomy palm tree-edged spaces to bask at waterside. It never gets too blazing hot around the grounds because of the site's closeness to the sea and its many trees providing shaded areas, but if you do feel a tan sun-baked, an indoor pool is to hand too for covered dips. Or avail yourself of the other leisure facilities instead: laze around at the restaurant with terrace, or tackle the many sports options including an indoor football pitch, several pétanque courts, and class such as aqua gym or dance classes arranged in those spectacular pools. And as well as all this? A packed programme of entertainment runs in the summer months, including a kids' club and all sorts of shows in the evenings from live music to magic: you could, feasibly, spend all your allotted and plotted time right on site...

Local attractions

Glitzy Benidorm is famed throughout Europe as a party and nightclub hotspot: if this is what you're on holiday for, its clubs, bars and festival venues are but a couple of kilometres away. The Benidorm must-do of Benidorm Palace (cabaret shows ahoy) is also a short trek from the site. By day, the resort is a top spot too for family outings and sand days, at the theme parks nearby or at the spectacular beaches of Poniente and Levante. Amusement park Mundomar and waterpark Aqualandia are five minutes' drive from Camping Villamar, and Terra Mítica and Terra Natura within 15. You could also take a boat trip from town out to Benidorm Island to greet its famed peacocks. About 40 minutes south along the coast, have a day trip to excellent Alicante and its Old Town, Santa Bárbara castle and more lively nightlife.
