  • Spacious pitches at a family farm in the Forest of Bowland
  • A 15-minute drive to centre of Lancaster; 20 minutes to Morecambe
  • Stunning views over coast and moors; easy access from the M6
Hare Appletree Farm is a family-run Lancashire dairy and sheep farm in the Forest of Bowland Area Outstanding Natural Beauty, with gorgeous views over Quernmore Valley towards the northwestern coastline. On a fine day, you can see all the way to Morecambe Bay, Blackpool Tower, the Isle of Man and the mountains of Wales. Those views are particularly fine at sunrise (over the Bowland moors) and sunset (over the bay and mountains), so it’s worth planning to be around at those times if possible. In between the two, there’s plenty to keep you busy: the farm is about 15 minutes from the centre of Lancaster, 20 minutes from Morecambe beach and half an hour from both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales national parks. More locally, there are miles of public footpaths to follow in the area around the farm or a short drive away – Jubilee Tower (half an hour’s walk away) is a popular spot for its great views over the rural scenery. Getting in, out and all around should be pretty straightforward too: the farm is about 10 minutes from Junctions 33 and 34 of the M6. Back at base, you’ll be staying on a site that stretches over 11 acres, with simple facilities in the form of portable toilets and mobile shower units. Barbecues are permitted if you’d like to get the grill going while you watch that sunset.
