  • Wildlife haven with easy access to London
  • Close to whitewater rafting, bike and walking paths
  • London travel cards available to buy
In a wildlife haven among the traffic-free trails of the 1,000-acre River Lee Country Park – and all only 40 minutes by train from central London: have a stay at Greater London's Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone to escape the city for a weekend, or to use the site as a nifty rural base for getting into the urban for day trips. (Either way, do take quite a bit of time to get around the country park for ambling, pedalling and wildlife watching among its rare resident species). Lee Valley Campsite has a play area, a shop selling essentials and one-day travel cards for London, a launderette with ironing facilities, and heated showers and toilet blocks. Dogs are welcome. The site also has free wifi – just the ticket when researching which museum or shopping area to get to in London first...?

Liked: Perfect Location for Visiting London city but feels like your miles out in the countryside. I like the way they send you the code for the barrier and a map with your pitch on it in case you arrive after reception is closed

Liked: Very clean and tidy site and staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent transport links direct into London with a bus running every 20 minutes direct from the site. Good park for younger children which was well kept and one of the better ones we’ve stayed at. Easy access to walking routes, particularly if you have dogs.

Disliked: Hard standing pitches didn’t allow enough room to park a car as we got stuck on the grass but staff were helpful and allowed us to park on an empty pitch. Facilities were very clean and well maintained but were very cold getting out the shower as heating was either switched off or inefficient.

Liked: The campsite was perfect, we went to be close to London and it was perfect place to get quick and easy travel to the city, the bus arrives right outside the campsite and then it’s just a short train journey to the city. My kids loved riding all the transport in and the bus is around every 10 minutes so we never had to wait too long. The campsite staff are so friendly too, we asked lots of information about getting to London and they were so helpful and very welcoming when we arrived too. Bathrooms and showers were kept very clean and the campsite itself was free of litter. My two children especially liked the park area and there was a lovely walk around the wild life area too. We will definitely be back.

Disliked: Nothing
