  • A quiet rural location for adults only, four miles from Charlestown
  • A 15-minute drive to the Eden Project, Mevagissey and Carlyon Bay
  • Equipment available to rent on site; shops and pubs a short drive away
Go rural in Cornwall and set yourself up for seaside adventures, visits to rainforest biomes and watersports – The Sleepover Co is in a quiet rural Cornwall location that will make sure you’re in a great position to unwind with your nearest and dearest (as long as they're grown up enough… this is a site that's geared up for adults only). Despite the rural/seaside outlook, don’t get the impression that this place is cut off at all. It's quite the opposite in fact, as it's only a 10-minute drive to St Austell, where you might want to try the brewery’s local beers and pick up some supplies. The UK’s only china clay mining museum, Wheal Martyn Clay Works, is five minutes’ drive to the north too. More attractions are easy to track down too, including the likes of the Eden Project (15 minutes’ drive) and The Lost Gardens Heligan (20 minutes). Of course, there’s also the coast for Cornish pasties or ice cream by the sea, watersports, beach days and coastal walks. Newquay is half an hour’s drive away, but locations closer by include Charlestown, Carylon Bay and Porthpean. There are plenty of shops and restaurants of all sorts in St Austell, but extra handy is the site’s sister company which rents out camping equipment. Just chat to the staff for more advice on how to get this sort of kit for your stay.

Local attractions

If the coast is the first thing on your mind when you arrive at The Sleepover Co (and it may very well be in this Cornish location), you might want to visit Charlestown Harbour (10 minutes’ drive) first. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was created in Georgian times, and nowadays it has tall ships and other historic vessels on display. Other coastal locations are just as splendid. You could set yourself down on Carlyon Bay (15 minutes) for a simple paddle or yoga sessions and open-air theatre events if you time your visit right. In Mevagissey (15 minutes), there’s an aquarium and an active working harbour, while Newquay (half an hour) has more sea-themed activities, such as fishing trips or watersports. If you’d rather switch up the itinerary a little bit instead, inland is the Eden Project (15 minutes), where there are zipwires and rainforest biomes. The Lost Gardens Heligan (20 minutes) also has 200 acres of gardens, including Victorian pleasure grounds, for walks of the peaceful type.
