  • Peaceful pop-up campsite near Snowdonia, Llangollen and Betws-y-Coed
  • A 40-minute drive to Betws-y-Coed, Zip World Llechwedd and Llangollen
  • Off-grid camping by the River Alwen; five minutes’ walk to the pub
A small and chilled pop-up campsite located in the pretty village of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr near Conwy in North Wales, peaceful Glyn Myfyr Camping has off-grid pitches by the River Alwen, and within easy driving distance of big-hitting attractions in Snowdonia National Parkas well as the Isle of Anglesey. There are no designated pitches, so please pick your own camping spot from what’s available when you arrive on the field. Simple facilities at the site stretch to water and plenty of space to park cars by your pitch – please note there are no showers available (although there is a toilet), and as it’s also off-grid, bring torches for finding your way around after dark. There’s plenty to do for outdoorsy types: attractions within 40 minutes’ drive include the hiking and biking centre of Betws-y-Coed, hikes to the dramatic waterfall at Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwyd and the rinses hilltop Castell Dinas Brân. It’s also a handy base for exploring on the Great Little Trains of Wales, narrow-gauge heritage railways found all over the region. But that’s not all – there are plenty of activities to keep the thrill seekers happy too. At Zip World Llechwedd you can zipwire over a former slate mine, and if you’re after some water-based activity, Surf Snowdonia is a great place to sharpen your surfing skills or learn from scratch. Back on site, you have the option of firing up the barbecue for an alfresco feast (pick up essentials from the local shops, five minutes’ drive), or down tools and head for the local pub: it’s only five minutes’ walk so you can leave the car by your tent and sample a couple of local beers.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The gorgeous views the peace and quiet. The camp site was lovely and clean.

Disliked: Didn’t dislike anything really. We only stayed two nights so it wasn’t an issue to us. We could boil water to have a wash down. But it would of been nicer if there was a shower for longer stays.
