Electric grass tent pitch (no awning)

Liked: Owners had thought of everything, washer/dryer, microwave, hair dryer. Lovely toilets and lovely powerful shower near the main house. Cars to be parked on the car park rather than on the site.

Disliked: Wish they had children’s park/play area.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks for leaving the review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Just some feedback on not having a children play area, which we have been advised by our insurance company that it would add risk to the policy and we should not have one. However, many of the families enjoy time walking in the lovely countryside close by. Many thanks Richard and Pamela

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Everything to be honest. We would highly recommend this site and we will be back again. Very peaceful. Really beautifully kept pitches, the facilities were good and kept clean! Also helped that the sun was shining all weekend so it was blissful. Saw the owner several times and she was really friendly. We were able to use a fire pit in the evening too which was lovely as the weather was so dry.

Disliked: N/A

Francesca P. The reviewer booked through Pitchup.com

Electric grass tent pitch (no awning)

Liked: Clean tidy site, level pitches, the facilities were spot on. I come with a load of wet washing knowing that this could be dried in the dryer! We stayed in the first field, next to Picasso’s paddock & my daughter LOVED it when he wanted to have a fuss made of him. The road ways were made of stone/gravel, so the children could hear the cars coming from a distance and move out of the way. We stayed over the bank holiday so it was lively but we didn’t mind that. The owners Pam & Richard, were really lovely, made you feel welcome and happy to give recommendations on the local area (The Boat @ Erbistock is definitely worth a trip!) Will definitely be coming back again. Thanks for a fantastic time.

Disliked: The drinking water, but we got some bottled in so that wasn’t too much of a bother.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Francesca, thank you for your lovely long review, wow! Picasso is getting very old now, but he loves the fuss and attention (and the odd carrot). Look forward to seeing you all again. Not sure what say about the water as we are on the mains water supply and fresh from the Welsh Hills. See you again, best wishes Richard and Pamela

Electric grass tent pitch (no awning)

Liked: Very clean Facilities. Toilet and shower block very clean. Sites kept very tidy hosts very friendly. We will be back again soon.

Disliked: Could do with another toilet an shower cubical as ques did start to form. Cars werent meant to be passed a certain point (only for unloading an loading back up) but few cars were parked by tents an caravans so were in an out throughout the day.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for leaving your review and we look forward to welcoming you back. Bank Holidays are usually busier than other weekends, but we do have two separate shower/toilet units. There is always plenty of hot water and the facilities are cleaned frequently. We prefer that guests don’t drive their cars around the main site, but we do make exceptions for people with disabilities, who prefer to have their car close to their pitch. Hope to see you again over the summer months. Best regards Richard and Pamela

Local attractions

This be Roman country: nearby Whitchurch was founded by the rampaging lot around the time of Caesar (the first), on a main Roman road between Chester and Wroxeter. Chester, one of the main Roman towns, is about 40 minutes' drive from Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park and has a Roman amphitheatre to see as well as Roman remains and a museum at Dewa Roman Experience. Fans of other history periods also come to Chester to see its medieval and black and white buildings and its Grade I listed city walls, among the best preserved city walls in Britain, and the 11th-century Chester Cathedral. Back near base, stop off at the well-kept Whitchurch Heritage Centre to see some more Roman remains alongside exhibits and galleries taking the town up to modern times. Around the streets, make time too for the Clock Trail or one of the other several town trails: most fortuitously, most pass a pub… Also anciently, several castles, historic houses and National Trust properties are within conquerable driving distance – Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall in Wrexham, Combermere Abbey, Cholmondeley Castle and Bolesworth Castle just to start you off. All have regular events, including an international show jumping event at Bolesworth, and a Pageant of Power, Pony Club Championships and garden openings at Cholmondeley. Here to hike? Five long-distance walking trails start from Whitchurch's Jubilee Park, including the Shropshire Way which runs along to the Llangollen Canal, crossing the border between England and Wales. The Sandstone Trail, 34 miles through Cheshire and Shropshire, starts and finishes in the town. Other sights and sites nearby are Shrewsbury and the follies at Hawkstone Park about 20 miles away, and the early nineteenth century Pontcysyllte Aqueduct carrying the Llangollen Canal over the River Dee, a World Heritage Site with the wondrous Horseshoe Falls. Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is about an hour and a quarter's drive away.
