  • Small, quiet site with sea views; two miles from the coast at Llanelli
  • Within half an hour's drive of the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons
  • Great cycling access to Swiss Valley Trail and Millennium Coastal Path
A well-placed Carmarthenshire site with stunning sea views, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is a small, quiet spot close to Llanelli. There's plenty to do around and about – coastal strolls along the Millennium Coastal Path, taking in the Swiss Valley Trail's green vistas by bike or driving out to the Gower Peninsula and Brecon Beacons are all options on the table. You can expect flat and level grounds for pitching up on, as well as a modern shower and toilet block. Other than that, you'll be left to your own devices – it's up to you whether you opt to set up a barbecue, kindle a campfire, cycle five minutes down the road for dinner at the nearest pub or take the dog (if you've brought one) out for walks on the beach. Speaking of the sea, Caemawr Camping and Caravan Site is roughly two miles from the nearest stretch of coast, where local highlights include Llanelli beach, the Machynys Peninsula Golf and Country Club and Sandy Water Park, a peaceful nature watching spot brimming with birdlife.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely quiet campsite with amazing views. Toilet and shower blocks were spotlessly clean. Water and electric hookup on each pitch. Lovely hot shower. Very near to the town and easy to find but definitely follow the instructions to avoid the country lanes especially if you're in a bigger campervan or towing a caravan!

Disliked: Nothing!

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely quiet site with amazing views, toilets and showers clean, friendly and helpful owners

Disliked: Nothing, but it was very quiet when we were there, I’m not sure how it would be if full and sharing 2 toilets and showers!!

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. We do have three showers and three toilets (disabled toilet had issue with the flush during your stay). As it is only a 5 caravan site we feel that the three toilets and three showers are quite sufficient.

A simple, clean site with a terrific view.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A lovely clean site with a cracking view across what looked like the whole expanse of the River Loughor. Travelling through streets and then a farmyard to get here meant we were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the camping field was. The shower and toilet block may be small; two separate showers, more like wet rooms, and two toilets, but all was spotless. Our hard standing pitch, with electric and water, was very roomy.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Loved the size of the pitches and the electric hook-up option. There were taps on every pitch which was so handy especially with my dog staying with me. The toilet block is so close, probably a 20 second walk and they were spotless, so clean! The view was amazing and so many local things to do. Llanelli bay has a wonderful beach and lovely dunes. I can't wait to book again! Thank you :)

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Great clean facilities, large flat pitches, ground well kept. Everything we needed with no fuss. Good communication from owner with instruction, but no unnecessary interference. Great view, somewhere to walk dog from the site. Very quiet but surprisingly close to pub/town.

Disliked: If I had to choose something it was the shower was a little lacking in pressure, as on most sites that are in a field!

Liked: The site had everything you needed and was in the most perfect spot for a beautiful view over Llanelli.

Disliked: The drive and surrounding area on your way up to the site needs a little bit of looking after, we stopped a few times and wondered whether we we in the right place!

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site was just as it said in the description. Clean and new facilities. Friendly fellow campers ready to help, as usual. Great view of the Burry estuary.

Disliked: A large grassed area with lots of camping possibilities. Just two toilets and two showers! Perhaps this needs expansion at some poit

Local attractions

Exploring the Llanelli area is perhaps best done by bike – you can pedal up to the peaceful Lliedi Reservoirs (15 minutes' cycle) for a picnic before heading back to base, or make a day of it and continue on to the National Botanic Garden of Wales (an hour and 30 minutes by bike or half an hour by car), where those arriving on two wheels get a discount on the price of entry. Next, you might like to stretch your legs by heading to the Brecon Beacons (from 30 minutes' drive) – make sure to pack sensibly sturdy footwear if your plans involve top treks like the Ystradfellte Four Waterfalls Walk (an hour) or hikes around Carreg Cennen Castle (45 minutes). The national park is also home to less energetic attractions like the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (50 minutes) and the Brecon Mountain Railway (an hour). Yet another option would be to take a driving tour of the gorgeous Gower Peninsula (from 30 minutes) to soak up some of South Wales' best seascapes. The sweeping sands of Rhossili Bay (50 minutes) will probably be part of most itineraries, but for something a little different you could also head to the Swansea side of the peninsula for jetski safaris around Oxwich Bay (40 minutes).
