FHU gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Friendly staff . We had a problem with our caravan when we arrived and they maintenance team sorted it out with no charge. Toilet block always clean a tidy. Bar well stocked as was the shop. Fish and chips shop was also very good.

Disliked: No sports ( sky or tnt ) on the bar TV so had to go to Penrith to watch the games.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Went with my sister , wanted a quiet spot , which we found in the over flow field. The main area we found was more suited to families and groups travelling together. Excellent site for all !! Great reception , good little shop. Small coffee shop and a tiny chip shop that is worth a visit ! Fantastic play area for children . Toilets and showers were clean and had plenty of hot water .

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about this site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Very welcoming and friendly staff - showers were lovely and the facilities were kept very clean. Bar was well stocked and the children's play area was great and could be used by a range of ages. Shop was well equipped and offered some local pies and cakes. Make sure you arrive early as non-electric pitches are first come, first serve. Lovely, dog friendly site; will be coming back.

Disliked: Bit of a long queue for fish and chips but lovely to have this facility on site. If they expanded the coffee shop to provide breakfast they would make an absolute fortune!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Location, facilities on the whole, cleanliness of pitches and showers were lovely and warm.

Disliked: Some toilets were not the best in terms of cleanliness. Only 8 showers for whole of site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, however regarding the shower and toilet blocks we have 3 shower and toilet blocks available on site, this adds up to 12 showers in total. We do like to make sure that all our toilet and shower blocks are cleaned and maintained to high standards. As this was a bank holiday and the weather was not the best, we do tend to have issues with grass and mud, but our maintenance team do go round and check the toilet and shower blocks as much as possible through out the day.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The onsite facilities and general location was beautiful. And even though we went in a busy half term, we had a lively quiet pitch with plenty of space and privacy.

Disliked: The club house/bar/games room was quite out dated, which meant my older kids just wernt kept entertained, which was a shame given the rain we had.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We had an absolutely wonderful time at Ullswater Holiday Park during our stay from May 25th to May 29th. My family and I, including our older children, camped in tents and enjoyed every moment of it. The campsite itself was immaculate and well-maintained, providing all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The facilities were clean and easily accessible, and the park's layout made it convenient for us to get around. The staff at Ullswater Holiday Park were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. They made us feel welcome and ensured our stay was pleasant from start to finish. Our children had plenty of activities to keep them entertained, from exploring the beautiful surroundings to participating in the park’s recreational offerings. The natural beauty of the area is breathtaking, with stunning views and plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. One of the highlights of our trip was the proximity to Ullswater Lake. We enjoyed several lovely walks along the lake, and the kids loved the chance to paddle and play by the water. Overall, our experience at Ullswater Holiday Park was fantastic. It's a perfect destination for families looking to enjoy nature and have a memorable camping experience. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Disliked: Of course, here's an addition to your review that includes the weather issue: --- The only downside to our stay was the weather; unfortunately, it rained during most of our visit. This meant that we couldn't fly our drone, which was a bit disappointing. However, the fantastic facilities and friendly staff at Ullswater Holiday Park more than made up for it. Despite the rain, we still managed to have a great time and enjoyed all that the park had to offer.

Local attractions

The Lake District doesn’t skimp on swish sights and attractions, and many of the best things to see and do in the national park – from bushcraft and watersports to golf and tennis – are within easy driving distance of the site. For classic Cumbrian walks Hallin Fell is a 20-minute drive away and the market town of Keswick, where you can go from perusing a pencil museum to dancing around the megalithic Castlerigg Stone Circle, is reachable in 25 minutes. A bit south of the town of Penrith (20 minutes) are the prehistoric Mayburgh Henge and Norman Brougham Castle. Other well-known Lake District settlements are also within easy reach along winding roads, like to Windermere (45 minutes away) and Ambleside (50 minutes). And if you fancy a crack at cantering instead of sitting in the car? Horse riding can be had from stables within a 15-minute drive, while guests who prefer roving on a revving vehicle can squat upon a quad bike and set off into the local lands (25 minutes from the park).
